Misfit.
Open thoughts expressed, fall short on rigid ears
~as knowledge,so certain, elicit laughter veiled in sneers
The cutting clever smirking, supports the tribal jeers
All truth ensconced in fact and symbols nascent, near
~ so soon to be confirmed in absolutes quite clear.
As the jester ever spouts his wisdom...to the cheer
Not welcome here, not welcome here, not welcome here.

RE: Poets' Corner
Vegetarians

We are the pariahs of this flesh-eating world:
hated, resented, ridiculed, reviled,
our very existence a threat
of maybe losing a steak or a bacon…
…the non-negotiable staple
of unimaginative minds.

They all know where meat comes from:
the barbaric cruelty of factory farms,
abattoirs, chicken-horror-chambers,
processing plants,
industrial fishing,
special torture for baby animals:
goats, lambs, calves.

Oh, they love their science, technology:
computers and iPhones,
jet planes, boats, modern medicine,
but when it comes to their
most fundamental need: food
they insist on cruel, barbaric methods of the past.

The technology is there,
we can synthesize meat
in modern factories,
cheaper, cleaner,
without killing, cruelty, suffering
for living beings:
our animal friends,
we treat them as inanimate garbage
until we devour them
in fake-carnivore style.

Children love animals,
get misty eyed over kittens,
puppies, baby goats, little lambs,
not told what we do to them
where their burgers come from:
"Eat it dear, it comes from
your friendly neighborhood Mart"

They say:
it’s the natural way,
forgetting that we are unnatural
in every other way:
we fight nature
with our science and technology…
…not in nature but in cities
we stay.

We are the flesh-eating disease
of this animal world...
...not clean, innocent
as true carnivores are
who don’t have a choice…
…we, who evolved
with science and technology
left our brains behind
when it comes to
humane philosophy.

RE: Poets' Corner
PS.

I just got a response on the Vegetarian thread where I posted my vegetarian poem.

It said: "The steaks are ready guys!"

That response inspired the following poem, which explains why I am posting on forums:

True loneliness

True loneliness
is seeking friends anywhere,
settling for
whatever you find...
...giving up hope
to meet one
who shares your soul,
answers your mind.

Don't have a title for this, but I thought I would try my hand at this again after such a long time absent. Forgive my lack of format, or elegant prose. My poetry is more for the message it conveys than for how it conveys it.

You disgusting woman
Smiling across this booth
Your inside is revolting
but your skin is smooth.

You reek of hypocrisy
Telling me to be me
While you fake
And disguise your wretchedness
In a low cut dress
If the world ran your way
We would be in a autocracy.

Let's eat, you crow
Reap the wheat and the meat
That others sow

You squirmy little faker
Badgering on and on about God
I swear, if you go on much more
Be prepared to meet your maker

Is that a new dress, you slimy eel
Does it make you look fat? Not at all
How about we go to the dancing hall
And dance with zeal.

We are going to dance, you bitch, until the day is new
I am going to dance with a smile plastered to my face
Because tonight, I'm going to be a hypocrite too.

Powerful opening and an in-ya-face ending. My kinda story-poem... place, imagery and feeling.
Very nice.

RE: Poets' Corner
After a rigorous polishing process with DLJ I present the new and improved:

Deaf, Dumb and Blind Date

You disgusting woman
Packaged to appeal
Pouring wine of vitriol
Ruining our meal

You reek of hypocrisy
Telling me to be me
While you fake your humanity;
disguise your wretchedness
In that low cut dress
If the world worked your way
It would be an autocracy.

Let's eat, you crow
Reap the wheat
and eat the meat
That others tend, tenderise or sow

You squirmy, little faker
Badgering on about God
I swear, if you go on much longer
Be prepared to meet your maker

Yes, I love your new dress
[you repulsive thing]
No, you don't look fat [Not at all]
How about we go to the dancing hall?
Let's caress and twirl and spin.

We are going to dance, you bitch, until the day is new
Because tonight, I'm going to be a hypocrite too.

Both versions are quite good, ASquared. The latter version is more polished and refined, but I'm not sure I don't prefer the former one in the raw. ... Keep it up, brother. Thumbsup

kill, use, torture them all,

Supernatural

bloodshot eyes
penetrate disguise
don't bullshit me
with your stupid lies
we can't go play
it's not the time of day
empty promises, all
in the words you say

rather lick my balls
than waste my time
than stir my bones
following your slick line
refuse to accept
eternal good time
when evil is the face
all you pantomime

nature needs the super like I need your shit
take a moment to look in the mirror
then get over it

(as quoted from George right now Thumbsup )

RE: Poets' Corner
The illusion of life

I have heard it said that:
life is a river...
...when we wake up at birth
time starts flowing
as a small stream,
gushing down the mountain,
gathering strength, growing, growing,
meandering across the plains,
meeting tributaries,
slowing down as it approaches the ocean
and quietly merging into the sea.
...
life is one very long day,
with minutes ticking away...
...we have the illusion
of a new beginning
when we spring out of bed
ready, yet again,
to conquer the world…
…each nap helping us forget
how futile, how pointless
this day-long existence is.
...
life is a book - an adventure tale...
...we keep turning pages,
one day at a time,
prepared for surprises,
boredom, resolution,
fear, happiness, love
following the writer's whim
helplessly, unable
to put it down.
...
One of these days
I will understand life
before it is over,
before I must close the book,
end the day,
say hello to the ocean,
merge into oblivion
and leave behind
this heartbreakingly beautiful
illusion.
