I whimper politely

I love this Zatamon....on the surface it tells a story yet it has deeper undercurrents.

May I give you my interpration of what I get from your poem???

To me you highlight the fact that as humans we have a politeness and threshold that comes with a limit.......some of the time we allow our limit to be pushed, because we have "manners"

Yet there lies a rebelious part in all of us that wishes to just be somebody else....maybe our trueselves......which is not so polite but is instead more raw. Like a caged lion we hold this thing back.

In a world where maybe sometimes we dont feel as if we are being understood properly.....we do things that cry out for attention.......these can be subtle things (where even we are not consciously aware of them) to more extreme actions.

So when we "upset the apple cart" and try to make our feelings known......the world may stop for a second and listen.......but empathy is not guaranteed and we are judged by our actions........and the real issue can be lost in translation.

For no matter how much I use these symbols, to describe symptoms of my existence.
You are your own emphasis.
So I say nothing.

bemore, your interpretation, while true, is way more serious than I meant the poem to be.

I called it ''darkly playful" and that is exactly what it is. It is a "what if" story, just playing with the idea of rebellion without actually being tempted.

The thought itself was satisfying enough. I chuckle every time I think of it.

And now I will stop posting more poetry until somebody else joins us -- I can't believe that it is only us two who writes poetry on this forum. It would be so much more fun to have a good range of style and content.

RE: Poets' Corner
I posted this before in the "What are you listening to?" thread in the Entertainment forum. But it's worth a repost and more properly belongs here. It's a very good reading of a very good poem.

There's not much left that will send shivers up and down the spines of us old hollow men anymore is there Zatamon?

But I am still only part of the "whole".....to find a place to fit in is my lifelong goal.

Who is My Keeper?

I like this a thread a lot.

And Zatamon, you should probably find a new dentist. Wink

I already have!

It is a new PM I would like to find. This one crawled out from under a rock.

He recently said: "My god is a tolerant god".

Must be or he would have been sent to his hell a long time ago. Undecided

The blue heron conjured itself out of hot shimmering air,
or, maybe it just floated up from the marsh
by the grayish-blue band of the road I was driving on.
It did not seem to fly, just hovered
with lazy indifference to the gravity
binding me to the ground.

It was huge: all wings, neck and legs
yet it had the beauty of the improbable:
all curves carrying a head
that was mostly just beak:
a feathery mosquito
with a five-foot wingspan.

Herons are so mysterious,
so rare,
an omen, a sign,
a revelation with great importance -
I asked what message it brought
to a human on a quest.

It did not reply directly,
just kept ahead of me,
out of reach,
transcending the obvious and predictable
to something almost completely unknown,
yet frighteningly familiar:

It seemed to say:
existence is not uniquely human,
we are all part of the puzzle,
with equally significant roles
in teaching one another
about beauty, truth
and harmony in the universe.

I thanked him for this piece
I have been missing
through a lifetime of trying to understand -
the obvious answer to an age-old question:
It’s not all about us, people,
it is about life…
…we are just a small
and not always important part.

It's about being, loving, dying,
reborning and retrying,
forever,
or until we finally,
one day,
realize
that we are not that different
from anything alive
on this Planet,
we are not many, but
we are
only
one.

I am us and we is me. ... bitches.

I am guessing this is one of yours Zatamon???

If so I have to say .....................wow.

Sir....out of all of the poems of yours I have read up to now I have to stand up and applaud this one.....simply awesome and inspiring.

Thank you, bemore, yes, it is mine.

It was a hot summer day and I was driving on a country road, in the middle of a swampy area and there it was, almost at arms-length, just floated up from the marsh and seemed to hover in the mist. One of my truly spiritual moments.
