Didn't she play a police woman in the 1970's?

RE: Poets' Corner
Here's one from a what seems like a life time ago...

Marie-Anne.

So simple in words,
Yet so complicated in attitudes,
You, who found beauty in all that I found so ugly;
I found beauty in you.

In my lush counter-phrases
you saw bitterness and cynicism,
where I meant none.
But you were the reader of souls not intentions,
Perhaps the blind can see more deeply
than the sighted ever will.

A fool was I, to think that you,
Could teach me all you knew,
A fool to think that you could wash the scales from my eyes.

You, who could not see, saw so much,
Saw through me;
A poor blind fool.

RE: Poets' Corner
This is a basho haiku I wrote once again I hope my syllables are right

I tried to pluck blossoms
They trailed betwixt my fingers
like sweet rain in Spring

RE: Poets' Corner
I can't stand it.

I started this thread and now, that children are shitting all over it, I think: someone should bring quality back to it!

No one to talk adult talk, for christ's sake?

No one to know the difference between poetry and self-indulgent crap?

Bemore, Cantor, Peterkin, how can you let this thread be hijacked by infantile juveniles"?

Girly, how can you stand it?

I guess you make your compromise where you find it.

OK, here is a contrast.

This poem is about an old-growth forest I visited on an island recently:

Flowerpot Island

The forest was wild
with moss-covered rocks and trees,
in a battle neither could win…
…they were frozen in a fused mass
of life and matter:
cedar and dolomite
coexisting
since forever.

Trees growing in fissures,
giant boulders blocking their path,
slanting rays of a ghostly sun
penetrating the dark.

Deep caves yawning above
in the looming rock face,
with wild pigeons flitting about
and blind bats in the ink-coloured space.

The trail snaked higher and higher,
cut into the unyielding soil,
woven through with twisted, hard roots
reaching to trip a careless foot.

The air was still, not a sound
disturbed this ancient space,
images of long gone cavemen
invaded my wandering mind:
ancestors of an indestructible race.

I was mesmerized with awe and wonder
over nature naked and true,
and from the lap of a civilized world
I was briefly reunited with the past,
the unforgiving millennia,
that my species had to come through.

The traditional is 5-7-5 but I think anyway you get to 17 is acceptable nowadays. (Or 18 Tongue ). Those are damn good for someone with nowhere to store their arrows. Big Grin

I was gonna say I have the patience of Job, but that ain't it, I just ignore 'em. Takes more than some juvenile banter to discourage Girly. We were children once, playing with toys. But yeah, they oughtta take that shit to the playground. That's why it was built. Just common courtesy.

And keep a watch for that 21 yo blind BrokenQuill woman who seems to know quite a bit about music and poetry beyond her years. She's got me revisiting Dickinson the Goddess of Death. Big Grin

RE: Poets' Corner
Talking about death...

Life is killing time

You get up in the morning:
sixteen hours to fill
with whatever pops into your mind:
job, hobby, sex -- anything that would spill
into your all too human brain
to pass the time, give you the thrill...

...you need to feel alive:
not quite dead,
as they used to say,
trying to make sense of existence,
looking for your deliverance.

Life is what you make of it,
good or bad or a mixture of both
take it or leave it,
it won't change for your sake
it won't get better than
what of it, you make.

Life is killing time
until time finally kills you.
When you are done,
with no more reprieves
you are, forever and finally gone.

Fuck em. Dont give earmuffs fuel as he will gladly relish doing it more (as from previous examples) for his own personal entertainment.

The guy is a bully.

I feel so much, and yet I feel nothing.
I am a rock, I am the sky, the birds and the trees and everything beyond.
I am the wind, in the fields in which I roar. I am the water, in which I drown.

Dear Job, good luck with your patience! This sandbox is too full of shit for me! Big Grin
