RE: Poets' Corner
My last poem was not a very good one -- it needs a lot of editing but it is late for that now.

I will try to compensate:

Writnig on Water

On a watery world
of chattering brooks,
winding rivers,
placid lakes
and the mass of the ocean,

you must find a way
to write on it,
paint on it,
compose your music
and your thoughts on it
if you want
to communicate.

bitter lesson:
you write on the surface:
the only place
shallow enough,
to dance in the sunlight.

The deep is dark, silent, foreboding,
frighteningly immutable,
and breathing it is
not recommended

Zat,
I'm not sure from your preamble whether you are inviting criticism.

FTR, I welcome it (but don't always act on it). Feel free if you want to comment / critique my stuff and let me know if you would like the same.

DLJ, I think this thread was meant for free self-expression and not for serious literary analysis of each other's work.

I always welcome comments and criticism but I think it is best left for Private Messages between those of us who want feedback -- both to give and to take.

I will look at your poems and see if I want to comment in a PM to you.

Please do the same.

Of course you are free to do it here in public as well, if you think it is a good idea. Smile

RE: Poets' Corner
I am dumb and I am stupid

I am dumb and I am stupid,
not finding the right words to say:
I bust my mind
to express the way I feel,
to tell you: hey,
we are in the same boat
of desperate humanity,
trying to make sense
of our common destiny:
we live or die
by the truth we believe,
determining what’s in store
for our future we’ll see --
please, stop and pause
for a second,
to dare to determine
if we have a moment to spare
between ego and annihilation
that will decide our salvation,
if we have one,
as a “condemned to die” species
or, we can, in the long run,
come to our senses,
please take a moment to reflect
because, it will decide
the choice your species may have --
it’s as simple as
your very own life,
or death,
that you condemn your children
to follow
in the end.

It means a lot. Happy to read this, Zat.

Death Penalty

Sick bodies, sick minds
dwell in the midst of us.
Sick bodies we cure if we can,
isolate if we must -
killing them would be:
murder.

Sick minds, we hate, fear, destroy,
in cold, methodical ways,
brushing aside pleas for mercy,
cries for compassion,
and only God can forgive us
if we made a mistake:

Our victim is past forgiveness.
