Pope changes rooms.
So apparently the pope has decided to live in a less grand part of the vatican.

Reactions from catholics range from freaking out about change to being horrified at him turning his nose up at luxury (one person even comments about how he shouldnt be pope if he cant live to the standard) ......at least according to the reactions on that news page.

When he turns down the gifts of young virgin boys, wake me.

RE: Pope changes rooms.
I asked an episcopalian on my facebook about it due to his posting the news.
  • Hobbitgirl: Everybody....panic? Does it matter where he lives?
  • Episcopalian person: It actually kind of does. The fact that he isn't living in the Papal
apartments suggests that he hates the opulence of the church as it
stands. He's trying to set an example and is moving towards reform

Hobbitgirl: Hm...Id like to see him get rid of the rest of the opulence too then. Donate
the whole of the massive catholic fortune to charities. Would be more impressed with that then changing rooms.

RE: Pope changes rooms.
Of course that won't happen, everything he's done so far is a publicity stunt, when it comes to the real stuff like donating the fortune and turning over the sex offender priests I doubt it will happen.

Behold the power of the force!

RE: Pope changes rooms.
Considering he has had a history of turning down luxury in favor of lesser things, ie: turning down a private car to work every day back in Argentina in favor of taking the bus, I'd say to the Vatican people, what the fuck did you expect?
