Possible or impossible? this is the question!
I was told that biblical Adam and Eve are impossible. As a believer that they were real people I want to know why they are impossible.
Thank you.

English is my second language.

RE: Possible or impossible? this is the question!
So let's see:

This:

Quote:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Gen 1

you accept without question.

But this,

Quote:All the Sumerian texts assert that the gods created Man to do their work. Putting the explanation in words uttered by Marduk, the Creation epic reports the decision:

I will produce a lowly Primitive;
"Man" shall be his name.
I will create a Primitive Worker;
He will be charged with the service of the gods,
that they might have their ease.

from the Sumerian tradition, you reject.

When you understand why you reject the Sumerian bullshit story you will understand why we reject yours.

There is no magic. Grow up.

Atheism is NOT a Religion. It's A Personal Relationship With Reality!

Probably has something to do with dirt not being able to become living, breathing humans.

Hope that helps.

First of all we have dna that prove we don't have an "Adam and eve" together in the same generation. They were generations apart.

This explains it very well.

RE: Possible or impossible? this is the question!
- It doesn't make sense for a human to be made directly dirt.
- It doesn't make sense that God would build a woman from a rib.
- There's plenty on evidence pointing to us having common ancestors with other animals.
- I don't get why the story has female coming from male, when it is the other way around.
- The story just doesn't make sense at all. It fits in with fairy tale stories.
- They lived over 900 years.

I'm sure there are other things I haven't thought of.

RE: Possible or impossible? this is the question!
Adam was made from a pile of dirt.... this is by any definition MAGIC
this is already overwhelming grounds for rejecting this story and considering it to be fiction

Adam got lonely so god took out one of his ribs and made him a girlfriend.... one of his bones is now a person
god made Adam from dirt but didn't make Eve the same way
god tells them not to eat from the tree of knowledge...... why even grow something in a garden if you don't want anyone to eat it ? he could've at least put a fence and keep away signs
talking snakes.... snakes don't talk, end of discussion
also the who creation part "let there be light" god said to himself..... like a madman

since the Civil War movie is popular I'll use a meme about it (attachment) and change the words to fit the adam and eve thing:

god: you two are banished.... remember the apple
Adam & Eve: yeah, you made a tree that had fruits you never wanted anyone to eat and put it in a place filled with creatures that can eat it
God: ok but you weren't' supposed to eat it
Adam & Eve: no fences, no warning signs, you did nothing to to stop anything from eating it
God: but you listened to the snakes lies
Adam & Eve: you let him roam around in the garden and did nothing to stop him
god: I told you it was wrong to eat it
Adam & Eve: you made us incapable of knowing right from wrong and expected us to know that eating it was wrong ?
God: ... look, you two are banished
Adam & Eve: you fuck up and suddenly we're banished, sounds like you need to be banished

Yahweh is the most incompetent deity in human existence, if anyone honestly knows of a more incompetent deity then please let me know

The only way for someone to believe the Adam and Eve story is to believe in magic. But, that is the case with belief in many of the Bible stories.

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

Possible or impossible? this is the question!
If you read anything about the Habsburg family or inbreeding, then it will be obvious why Adam and Eve could not be real. And you can't just add magic and make it real.

Because evolution and Adam and Eve isn't compatible, and evolution is the one with more evidence backing it up than gravity
