RE: Post here and I will ... uhm ... write you a poem
Like all forms of writing and English ... I never understood poems and I could NEVER put one together.. even in its simplest forms .. I alwaaayys had a different interpretation of the ones we studied in school and very frequently liked my way of thinking better than what they were supposed to mean.. This is a great thread and I envy your brain in putting together such fun and or beautiful writing.. I need to go take a community college creative writing class again.. I did ok in it when I had bubble charts and outlines - kept my brain linear..

I would love one pretty please .. Smile

Go to the top of the class! Thumbsup

Of the better poets I know, they will deliberately sew threads of different meaning into their words.

The best poets I know, do it instinctively.

There is no need to go a class.

Think about what you like in Leela's writing. Also, see the stuff from others here in the Poets' Corner thread.

Some poems you will enjoy and some will mean nothing. As it should be.

Think about why you like them... style, content, depth, hidden messages, lightness, darkness, humour, irony, pathos, scan, cadence, rhythm or rhyme. Anything.

To write, you just need to let your thoughts flow.

Sorry, Leela, for the semi-derail. Ignore me unless interested in what I usually suggest to budding writers:

Start by thinking of a memory (event / location etc.) that induced an emotion. Separate the two.
Write first about the event then write about how you felt.

The result will be a two-part observation (what you saw then how you felt).

Job done.

I usually offer then to do some polishing and even now, I have friends who will do this for my writing.

The poem then takes on a different form... taking it away from the original writer's intent, adding more layers, more clarity etc. This can actually be quite painful if the original memory/emotion was a strong one. But usually the end result is worth it.

Sorry, again, to derail.
As you were.

YEAH!

I think that's how it went.

morondog, I do not know
whether I wrote a poem for you
Just in case, to make your eyes glow
A few lines of rhyming for you, too.

First have an idea
then make your mind clear
Then with some time
there will be a rhyme
for the word you were trying
no, I am not lying

(easier than you think, believe me!)

Logisch has a German name
rhyming English would be lame:

Und da sitz ich wieder hier
schreibe ein Gedicht für Dir.
Ignoriere Grammatik mit Fleiß.
Was für ein Scheiß.

And as a bonus, a few German words that rhyme and end in "-icht"
Licht
nicht
Gicht
Wicht
Sicht
Schlicht
Sticht
Bricht
erpicht
Gericht
vernicht`

I never got a poem. Sad Except mine, but that's just pretentious doggerel.

E 2 = (mc 2)2 + (pc )2
614C → 714N + e + ̅νe
2 K(s) + 2 H2O(l) → 2 KOH(aq) + H2 (g) + 196 kJ/mol
It works, bitches.
