I like catholic girls.

Lots of guilt afterwards... it's funny.

RE: Practicing Roman Catholic, here.
You will need a bit of a thick skin here, but pretty much, if you respect us, we will respect you.

Some of us (not me) are quite the religious scholars, be prepared for them to challenge you. People like debates.

I hope you'll be a good fit, don't forget to take part in some every day talk too, it lets everyone come together on a human level.

There are theists here who have become a part of the community and are respected for who they are, even though we don't see things the same way as far as religion goes.

Just don't try to convert, try to understand, and you'll be off to a good start.

Welcome!

Welcome Smile Good luck.

Give me your argument in the form of a published paper, and then we can start to talk.

I'm a member of the Roman Catholic Church, and I live in the USA.

I don't know exactly why I'm here...

It must be my extreme early onset dementia. I see from my recent lurkings there are some good people, though they are ill-informed on Catholicism. Also you have a resident Deist, so I thought it would be best if I set aside some time to be a more... err... mainstream believer.

I can't wait to to click on that Atheism and Theism tab!

See you then,

CCL

(Because typing the superscript is too hard)

Well...welcome CCL to the zoo! You'll meet all kinds of folks here; most likely the majority of them will have worldviews directly opposed to yours, but what the heck!

For me, I was raised Catholic, sent to Catholic schools thru freshman year of college, served on the alter for 9 years (can still repeat verbatim the Latin response for the mass); have an older brother that was 1 year short of Jesuit ordination when he left the order, and have five brothers and two sisters (big catholic family).

It took a while for me to hack my way through all the Catholic (and other) religious trappings to arrive at my A-theism. My hope is that you are on your way down that same torturuous path. If so, perhaps I can be a good listener.

Remember: here, you'll meet many who've been "down the road" so to speak.

But even if you're not so inclined....welcome....and keep your skin thick!!

Welcome. You have no control over how you were raised.

The question is, why, with all the revelations about the crimes of the church which have surfaced in the last decade do you still remain?

Why do you support possibly the worse organization to ever happen to mankind?
And not just support it but you're actually an active full fledged member...
How can you say "hi, I'm a catholic" and not be extremely embarrassed?

It's pretty easy to confuse Calvinism with deism.

If it's all planned out and nothing you can do can change it, then that's no different than a deist god that starts the machine and walks away.
