Not really "profound" but someone handed me a picture and said "this is a pic of me when I was younger."

No shit. Every picture is of you when you were younger. No one hands you a pic and says "this is a picture of me when I was older."

The one I never understood or could not find the origin is 'lord love a duck'.

Yes, you're right.

Lol. That phrase is never a compliment, no matter how sweet the southern accent that said it.

"Look on the bright side". Usually said after something really bad happened. Somehow we are supposed to just ignore the really crappy thing that just happened..

"That's the beauty of it."

Shut the fuck up, you're a goddam programmer not Andy fuckin' Warhol.

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

Andy Warhol? Who the fuck cares what he said? Tongue

This is coming from someone who grew up in and around Pittsburgh, and has personally walked across the 'Andy Warhol' Bridge (it's the Seventh Street Bridge you corporate Censored hacks).

"Life is short."

Uhh, no it isn't? Life is the longest thing you do!

"Live life with no regrets!"

...So, by repeatedly making stupid choices and not regretting them?

I didn't hate this quote so much until somebody (wearing a giant black cross around his neck I may add) justified refusing reassignment surgury/HRT for gender dysphoria in favor of reparative therepy yesterday.

The anger still burns from then.

I think these so-called 'profound statements' are a good tool to gauge how stupid the person saying them is.
