In as many
He drank 2 bottles in as many days, Just say, he drank 2 bottles in 2 days FFS.
What if its 3 days, do you pretend its 2 days because it sounds cooler to say In as many

I'm sure news reporters get all gleeful when what they are reporting happens to line up with In as many ,

In this sleepy country town, there has been 3 murders in as many weeks.

Buckaroo Bonzai!

Though isn't that phrase taken from Buddhism?

Anyway, I think half the reason why find these quotes annoying aside from the fact that people say them all the time is that often they're used in a way that dismisses your feelings. Instead of empathizing with you, it's like a person feels like they need to placate, don't know what to say, so boom, insert cliched quote.

Fucking brilliant! Spittle flew out all over the screen at the end.

"There are starving children in China who would love that food."

If you gave a shit you'd help them when I didn't want your shitty food.
Also, if you now care so much, then mail this to them.

I think that one morphed into "Africa" in the 90's

RE: "Profound" statements - which one do you hate?
Teaching in a business school, I got to the point that whenever I heard people talk about "thinking outside the box," I wanted to throw them into a box . . . a simple pine box.

Oh, and then there was this: Years ago we had a neighbor, a crotchety woman in her eighties who reminded us of an old version of the wife in the American Gothic painting. One day she was chewing out the ne'er-do-well grandson who lived with her, and her voice came sailing over the fence:

"Wanton waste makes woeful want!"

I've never heard that before or since. At least it has alliteration going for it.

Religious disputes are like arguments in a madhouse over which inmate really is Napoleon.
