It's possible, and maybe even probable. I just don't want to assume negative stuff about them based on their faith. I know many Christians and very few sexist people. I could imagine that poster being the product of purely good intentions of "treat her with respect as an individual".

I understand where u r coming from. I just had very negative experiences with people like that re: the church and their views concerning women. But you are right anything is possible--doubtful (sorry had to throw that in lol)---but possible.

I see what is going on. When you read "protect her character" you read "protect her reputation/how she is perceived by others." Not once did I think that. When I read, "protect her character" I read it as "honor her sovereignty as an individual". Your interpretation may be right though.

I interpreted it as the actual definition of the word character, yes...
