Fear is mind-killer...

Fear is profitable for psychics

It's not just fear. That's part of it but much of it is overwhelming sadness some people face over the loss of a loved one and the desperation to find the person. Psychics prey on desperate people in the lowest most despicable way. I rate them lower than politicians, preachers and pedophiles. That's pretty low.

Shakespeare Insult 13 – Henry IV Part 1
“That trunk of humours, that bolting-hutch of beastliness, that swollen parcel of dropsies, that huge bombard of sack, that stuffed cloak-bag of guts, that reverend vice, that grey Iniquity, that father ruffian, that vanity in years?”

And I think this is the most important point - these grief vampires, charlatans, faith healers etc are the scumbags who should be mocked, ridiculed, and publicly humiliated wherever possible. Those people who fall for their antics...probably not so much. They are desperate enough to believe that crap is real but they are more than likely just people trying to make sense of and get by in a world that really couldn't care less about them or their troubles.

I feel bad for the faithful - they say atheists dont believe in anything which makes the Atheist life empty and meaningless but the faithfuls life is filled with fantasies and delusions. Their lives are so desperate and empty that they fall for even the most obvious scams. Its profoundly sad.

Sylvia Browne doesn't, and I don't think most of the famous ones do, either. Hell, Browne accepted the JREF challenge on Larry King and then decided not to do it. If she (or any of the other mainstream psychics) really believed in her power, she'd accept without a second thought. Since she won't accept, it's obvious that she knows she'll fail so it's better to just hide rather than risk exposure.

I love how she took her FB fan page down after Amanda was found but put it back up a month or so later. I posted on her page, saying she's a predator who takes advantage of vulnerable people. I was banned. Sad

I really think she should be stopped via some sort of legal gag order. After Amanda Berry was found, she should've been taken to task, especially seeing as how her mom passed away soon after Browne told her her daughter was dead.

I don't think anyone with any sort of higher reasoning ability would fall victim to this. Desperation leads people to do stupid things and listen to stupid people but no one made them do it. I am not sure how this is anything more than a case of bad judgement for the person who actually thought they could trust a psychic.

Sucks for that lady but wait she wasn't dead so how bad could it really suck now?

Good damn thing she was wrong.

I love the "grief vampire" monicker, too. Someone posted that on her FB page, too.

So you're OK with someone being a proven fraud? WTF is wrong with you?
