Because it has to be a blend. Leadership is about many things, e.g. inspiration, decisiveness, confidence, flexibility, mercy, justice, communication, empathy, inclusion, wisdom.

Blindly following rules gives you people who will run death camps.
Disconnected elitism gets you "They have no bread? Let them eat cake." And guillotines.
Weakness, indecisiveness will get you colonels in sunglasses forming a junta.
Wisdom, mercy, perseverance, and justice give you Nelson Mandela.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

Which means ... the were right to pull the books and not pulp them (given the prevailing culture)?

Mercy and Justice are often at odds with each other so that's an intriguing combination there. Consider

Lots of things are at odds with each other. Freedom and order, rules and wisdom, stability and innovation, sweet and sour.

Good governance is like good cooking - getting the right balance.

What does it mean if I'm good at baking, but not necessarily very good at cooking? Consider

I hope that the world turns, and things get better. But what I hope most of all is that you understand what I mean when I tell you that, even though I do not know you, and even though I may never meet you, laugh with you, cry with you, or kiss you, I love you. With all my heart, I love you. - V for Vendetta

Baking is very precise and exact. It frowns on improvisation, but rewards consistency. You may not be cut out for administrations but you would do well in legal.

Books of the invisible man, to the Adult Only Section !

Books of gays and les, well, should also be in the adult section. Before the age of 18, let's generaly tell them that a boy often likes a girl.

Want something? Then do something.
