Puscifer - New Album Out - Atheist Rejoice!
MJK's new Puscifer album is finally out! Pretty outstanding too! At times a bit more mellow than previous Puscifer albums.
One of the smartest dudes in Music today! His warped sense of humor is ALL over this stuff too, including the artwork. Then after a few jabs he creates songs so beautifully lonely and haunting as "Oceans". I got tix to see Him/Them in St Louis! Cant wait! Viva La Puscifer! Denicio |

RE: Puscifer - New Album Out - Atheist Rejoice!
I'm so all over the place as far as maynard is concerned. Of all of his bigger name bands are concerned I prefer Tool overall, but usually I can only listen to the shorter radio versions of the songs because he makes them so long. Love his lyrical ability no matter the band. A Perfect Circle came out with one of my favorite songs of all time Magdelena. But so did Puscifer with Rev- 2:20 (remixed version).
I'm always on the lookout for new music as it gets harder and harder to find anything of any real substance, and so I am listening to the whole album on youtube right now. I will hopefully find some anti religious sentiment as that is definitely a Maynard staple. His and Chris Cornells. On the subject of Cornell, not sure if you care but Soundgarden is supposed to have a new album out soon ![]() And this just for fun. The DRY Martini Mix of Rev 2:20 is to die for! Thats a song i want to see a sexy ass stripper dance to! Never been a huge tool fan and the only reason i know about Puscifer is due to the fact that one of my best friends told me about it as he is a Mix engineer in Los Angeles and did stuff off the V is for Viagra remixes and mixed the WHOLE EP called "C is For..." which is sublime!! I was instantly hooked! This new album has a different flavor to it, probably cuz its not just Maynard writing everything, it a collabrative effort now. Tool i can handle in small doses. Puscifer i can listen to over and over. Listen to the track "Conditions of my Parole" for a few sublte jabs at religion. Its not as overt as previous stuff, but its in there. Puscifer is what you get when drop a rock star off on the moon and give him endless amounts of red wine!! Dont really dig Temple of the Dog, but the lyrics are awesome! "TV Shepard and Living room sheep"!!! I really had no idea C.Cornell was an outspoken atheist, so to speak. Thanks for the link though, i am always on the hunt for music that can change the fabric of my DNA. Music is LIFE! (I am a recording engineer and producer...on a PT basis) Denicio |

Yeah I hate temple of the dog actually. That one song lyrically is good though. The others are all terrible. Just terrible.
This album is really relaxing. Chilling me right out, no kidding maynard is relaxing me. Impossible I say. I'm almost done now, just listening to Oceans. Overall I'd say it's decent. Lyrics are still pretty good, but definitely not the tone I was expecting. Not bad, just not expected. Who's this chick? Sorry on the last song... some chick... and banjo... No one can say that the Maynard sound is boring. But yeah the album has a very summer day on the beach vibe. Diggin it. Saw Puscifer in St Louis over the weekend. (Drove 5 hours to see it).
If it comes to your neck of the woods do yourself a favor and see this show! The band, maynard, sound, video images...all super tight and amazing!! I am a picky SOB when it comes to this stuff. It exceeded my expectations. Dennis |

Theres a lot of Schtick with Puscifer, but there is also a LOT of depth. Check out Tracks like "Oceans", "Green Valley" or "Tiny Monsters" for more rocky stuff check out "The Rapture". He opened the show in a extreemly non traditional fashion. Partially a quick history of cultural evolution...so to speak while pulling a Mini Jetstream (mini mobile home) to the stage. And before the first not he struck, he said "Life is too short not to create something with every breath we've got". Inspired words to live by! For those that have a tendancy to lean with the right side (creative side) of the brain, THIS is the show for you! D |
