Feel free to dump arguments here!

If x is an odd integer, so is x^2.

And by simple logic, for an odd integer x, x^n is odd for any non-negative integer n.

Left as an exercise to the reader.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Never heard the bible called that before.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

Big Grin

I like your name. It is both bold and clever.

I will try to explain to you why it is difficult for an Atheist to begin a debate about religion, or god.

Atheism is the lack of any Theology. We have no beliefs or contentions to argue. We can only define ourselves by what we are not. We cannot collectively claim anything.

When we are pressed to debate with Theists, we are left with only one possible action, we must either accept or refute your contentions. You are the only one in the argument who is asserting anything about reality outside of known fact.

I am happy to debate, since I enjoy the discourse for its own sake, but I cannot begin, since I have nothing to offer you as far as a contention. You will have to provide that.

Many people refer to this concept as "The Burden of Proof". It means that the individual making the claim outside of currently known fact, must provide the evidence to assert his claim, or have it rejected on the basis of "not enough evidence".

Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, just as it is the spirit of a spiritless situation. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is required for their real happiness.

RE: Q&A with The_Thinking_Theist
An God argument/analogy my born again friend used was gravity, we cant see
And cant prove it. I asked to swap sides and ask me to prove gravity.burden of proof.
After many examples of how we can test gravity, observe the effects of gravity.he cut me off and said but you cant see it you have to have faith. Arrrgg facepalm.
Then proof of god went back to nature is so complicated god did it.
I'm concluding unless you say yes I believe now, then all they hear is blablabla im arrogant .

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

There exist two positive irrational numbers x and y such that x^y is rational.
If z=sqrt(2)^sqrt(2) is rational, then this is an example.
If not, then z^sqrt(2)=2 is an example. Proof that sqrt(2) is irrational is left to
the reader.

If you are indeed a theist, then you believe in God.
What is your definition of God?
We will take the discussion from there.

RE: Q&A with The_Thinking_Theist
I have one.

How can you claim that god is love?

Love is not self denial. Love is not blood or suffering. Love is not murdering your own child to appease your own vanity. Love is not hatred, or wrath, consigning billions of people to eternal to torture because they offended your fragile ego or disobeyed your rules. Love is not obedience, conformity or submission. It is a counterfeit love that is contingent on authority, punishment or reward. True love is respect and admiration, compassion and kindness freely given by a healthy unafraid individual.

It is because I know love that I could never be a Christian again. So how, in the world, can you align yourself with such a hateful creature, guilty and responsible for the system of destruction, turmoil and suffering it singlehandedly created?

Also, as a side point. If god is real - has he abandoned his creation?

I see Christians constantly left to defend god's apathy.
