Mom - I didn't see you coming up with anything. So I'd thought of a softball to warm up.

My, what a turnout!

Looks good. I'll start, feel free to remind me if your question falls through the cracks. Thumbsup

To thrillseaker:

Just want to debate and discus things people wanted to talk about on "Re: What do we know?" that were cool ideas but off topic.

To Revenant:

Thanks for that explication on the meaning of 'Burden of proof'. That is something I find hard to answer. One of the definitions of the spiritual experience is that it in ineffable, so impossible to describe. I can't really provide 'proof' only means of gaining it. Sure, maybe it's pleasure hormones, but I like to live beyond the layers of the mind.

To Sporehux:

Yes. I believe in one God, the God without end and without beginning, experiencing a never-ending "now" of love.

To Gilgamesh:

(Love your username! Can I be Enkidu one day? Smile )

A God is, in theism, God is the creator and sustainer of the universe.

To Bucky:
I'll make a separate post just for you.
Smile

To Cathym:

Those are actions of man, not God. Man has, to the best of our scientific knowledge, free will. God won't affect man's actions, because the only satisfying spirituality is through self realization. (Although I have no clue what God thinks LOL) Also I don't believe in YHWH-Elohim, the God of Abraham. I am a theist in the broad sense. Read some of the older posts on "What do we know?" for details. And I'm a liberal and all that jazz.

How do you rationalize the many references to multiple gods in the bible.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".

Lol!
I'm a theist that believes that science doesn't disprove God, only shows how great God is. He's not in a trinity, (he's not even a boy) he's the transcending God of the Multiverse, both entirely made up and seperate from us.

So god is an "it" ?
Should have stopped at "entirely made up". Tongue

RE: Q&A with The_Thinking_Theist
So as a theist, how best would you describe your "faith". You've alluded to a number of beliefs but have been fairly vague so far.

Is there a particular version of theism you subscribe to? Buddhism or pantheism?

Also, what is your general view on atheism? You haven't come across as really hostile or derisive at all. Although you did use the phrase "that's what I hate about atheists".
Not that I think it means you hate atheists, by the way. I'm curious as to what brings you here as opposed to any other forum.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

RE: Q&A with The_Thinking_Theist
So your God = God of the gaps. That's fair enough.

Theism is to believe what other people claim, Atheism is to ask "why should I".
