Awkward...

What's awkward about it, Preacher? Angry

Rawl, says the tiger... Big Grin

I should know better than to try to catch the tiger by the tail.

I just love the name Kate. "Set theory" began its life as the "Kate hypothesis." Wink

(For my Gwynnies, of course; been in love four times, two Kates... mnnn, can't explain that! Big Grin)

No. Not that I'm opposed to it. It's just that our bus system is horrible. In fact, it's on the verge of going under.

I notice, by some theists, a profound hatred for those that don't buy into their religious views. A few of these seem to be filled with a apoplectic glee in their certainty atheists will burn in hell - like they want to escort them and light the match.

Just curious if you have, or can provide any insights to the mindset of people like this. I mean, I understand, doctrinally and all that by definition we are all hellhound for rejecting jeebus and the holy ghost and all that - so most of you buy into that idea, but why do some revel in it? I picture these WBC types as the ones camping out for days and nights to be first in line for a good old fashioned stoning in Tehran...

The way i see it is that religion wants to spread, atleast from the point of view of my former religion of islam, and anybody who wants to stall or stop its spread should be beheaded (apostates like me too). After that they go to hell and get all sorts of gruesome torture.
So we by being athiests/agnostics who dont follow their rules are hindering the spread of religion and providing a place for people who have doubts to fund answers, reducing the number of people who believe => weaking the religion as a whole. I guess religious people feel responsible for spreading religion and us merely saying "we dont buy it" makes their god, and therefore them, angry.

It's the best rationale I can figure as well...

Theists hate it when non-believers poke fun at religion, but I see the pokes taken as being in response to their anti-atheist messages. Not saying either "side" is right in doing so. I'd prefer to not see religious messages all around (outside of churches I guess is OK...lol), or the "You know there is no god" signs as well. It just adds fuel to the fire...
