How bizarre. For someone who has little religious knowledge I find some of the things I pick up on this forum quite amazing. The sheer ability of my fellow humans past and present to invent and then distribute and believe stuff is really quite interesting.
Were they dropping acid back in 20BC?

Not acid but yes ancient peoples used Hallucinogenic drugs.

Well, there are supposedly psychedelic mushrooms growing at the base of Mt Sinai (where Moses supposedly received the ten commandments). Note, there were no witnesses to the event.

I had to google 'Moses on drugs'. Seems others have suspicions also. It does sound like the best explanation so far.
