RE: Ranting corner
I don't know if the Brits still have it, but I used to buy it over the counter there, too. Long time ago.

It's American/Canadian vernacular for "available without a prescription". Aka just walk into a drugstore and buy some.

It's an opiate precursor, which is activated when ingested. It triggers the same pathways as morphine.

Hey, I had a 50/50 guess as to which sort of ignorant you were.

Yeah so....excruciating tooth pain, face swollen, can't sleep...go to dentist he prescribes 12 5mg codeine tablets and gives referral to specialist for a few days later after seeing if antibiotic will work. Three days after antibiotic face swells up again and pain is back. Repeat all. Go to specialist, spend almost three hours being drilled, filled, and incised. Get prescription for 10 10mg codeine tablets and more antibiotics. Three weeks later, do it all again less the incision. Another 10 codeine tablets and a new antibiotic. Total cost - over $2200.00 - out of pocket - about $500.00.

In Canada - tooth pain, go to drug store and buy something to stop the pain.

Where are my keys - I am heading north.

(I almost forgot - show driver's license to prove you are really the person the prescription is for. Also so you can be tracked - you are obviously an addict or a drug dealer.)

See here they are the bruises some were self-inflicted and some showed up along the way. - JF

The only over the counter pills are 8mg doses.

But at least you can get 200 at a time!

I am, thanks. But it was two full months of hell. If it ever happens again you will find me on the way to Canada.
