Like now; my father's work has interfered. I realise such things can't be helped, but having my schedule knocked out of whack is rather annoying, especially since this sort of thing happens so frequently.

Of course this wouldn't be an issue hard I a car, a license and even a single shred of competence, but I have none of these things, and it will take me a year to be allowed to drive on my own legally any way.

WTF? Y'all can't drive until 19?!?!

No, we can drive much earlier: at 16 you can get a Learners permit (which I don't have). A person on L-plates must be accompanied by a 'Qualified Supervising Driver' (anybody who's been held a full license for more than two years, with a clean record) for a period of 12 months.
As such, even if I had a car (which I don't have) and my L-plates, I can't transport myself anyway.

Why can't I find a cutesy romantic comedy that's well written? Arghh. Most of the adult romance novels are straight up heaving bodies for 200 pages, and my 6 yr old son has a larger vocabulary and more complex sentence structure than the authors of most of the young adult romances. So fucking frustrating. How goddamn hard is it to write a decent fucking book? Sheesh, to think these people went to college.

Most of the adult romance books pretty much ARE hardcore porn. I'm looking for more of the girls gone wild college edition softcore porn. Tongue

Girly books chill me out - it's like literary Xanax. I started reading those kinda books when I worked in the ED - you know all is going to end well and there will be a happy ending. Boy meets girl, angst/drama/hilarity ensues, boy and girl may or may not get it on depending on how prudish the author is, they fall in love, the end. But I need more than 5 word sentences.

Conversation on xbox tonight.

Friend A: "hey friend B, how's the job search going?"
Friend B: "about as well as my sex life"
Me: "you're self employed?"
Laughter ensues.

This is why I read stuff on my kindle app.

But I completely agree with you. It's either 200 pages of flushing and heaving breasts or perfectly chiseled pecks, or the most poorly constructed plot logic ever.

A friend recommended Outlander (pretty sure that's what it was called) I downloaded the first book. I've yet to finish it. I got seriously bored. If something doesn't grab me in the first 5 pages or so...I move on...

At least the kindle stuff is usually less expensive than buying actual books...but on the other hand, I can't exactly sell them on ebay either. Dodgy

Oh I totally sympathize. Hug

The place I used to go to get my hair done, had these hard plastic chairs. A few hours getting color and I was begging to stand.

Shakespeare: As You Like It, Much Ado About Nothing, A Midsummer Night's Dream, etc. Probably not what you're looking for, but these are all romantic comedies with happy endings, and about as well-written as anything ever written. They are also plays rather than novels, and are better seen than read, but they are pretty good reads, too.
