RE: Ranting corner
Feeling sort of empty. Undecided Which I know probably means I need to write or do something creative. But I am discovering, through various means, that I care more about expressing myself and creating something than I do about writing as a means of helping others to not feel alone. It's like I keep peeling back more and more layers of selfishness and that disappoints me. Sad I thought that I wanted help other people not feel alone by something I wrote, because others have often helped me feel that way, but my paralyzing fear of criticism prevents me from ever putting anything out to the public eye (even here - TTA is not an exception). If I write with the thought that someone will eventually read it, paralysis sets in and I cannot write.

Well, work starts in one minute. Another grueling day of absolutely zilch to do while pretending to have things to do because it seems that's what they want of me. Undecided

I refer to writing fiction, mostly. My books, etc. But also of writing real opinion pieces, really expressing my views on various topics.

OMFG!

Parents are stupid around my kid's school. They stop in the middle of road...in the fucking middle to let little "Jenny" out of their mini van, and then "Jenny" must proceed to open the trunk to retrieve her precious backpack, put it on, before proceeding across the fucking street (jay walking no less). What really gets me, is that the fucking parking lot isn't busy yet.

If you're going to block traffic, at least have your shit together enough so that kid has the backpack and knows how to properly move those fat legs across the street in a timely manner.

Fucking idiots.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

A few years ago, I happened to be riding my bike past the Kohl Center (sports arena and concert venue) here in Madison, on the night of a Kenny Chesney concert, and a car stopped in the middle of the road on my left, flung the doors open, and out came two quite hefty women who stepped right into my path.

Well, I can't stop on a dime, so I hit them. The impact twisted both my handlebars and my seat out of their normal positions and left my upper body sore for a week, but it didn't even slow them down. They were gung ho to get into that concert!

RE: Ranting corner
Late afternoon conversation between two coworkers...who don't seem to realize that others are trying to actually work.

E - It's Easter week...this is my favorite holiday, it's just so special. Then a description of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, blah, blah, blah. The services Sunday will be so wonderful.

M - The most moving service I ever attended was one at Rick Warren's church in California. It was so meaningful.

E - Oh how wonderful. (With stars in her eyes and nearly breathless...) Was he saving people?

Me - (In my head.) Check please...
Before I got roped into all the happy, clappy god stuff, I took a break for a few minutes in hopes that the conversation topic would either change or stop completely.

Weeping

I'm getting all emotional about the Triduum too (though from the sound of things your coworkers would react like being physically struck if they heard a Catholic term), but not trying to bug y'all about it. Also, main reason for replying here, first thought at hitting Rick Warren "Oh God, I'm not sure how Anjele dealt with having to listen to these happy clappy Evangelicals".

I've just got home after a long grueling flight.

Nothing went according to plan. The worse part was being stuck in Kentucky waiting for a delayed aircrew because their flight from Chicago was delayed for a few hours because some idiot caused a kerfuffle.

How selfish can some people be?

Angry

You were stuck in Kentucky and didn't get off the plane to go to the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter? Tongue

Need to think of a witty signature.

I am afraid tomorrow may be a long day listening to the god squad. Sadcryface

Luckily I have plenty of Cognitive Dissonance episodes to catch on up on...

edit - I am also unnerved at the thought of DLJ being in Kentucky of all places.

Sorry, I imagine Good Friday could be...interesting with them. Sad I for one, will watch Passion of the Christ after work. It's my Good Friday thing I do.

And his accent would sure be different than the local one...heh.

You celebrate Good Friday with torture porn? That's more than a little creepy.

I would maybe watch Jesus Christ Superstar.
