That sound you hear? It's not the weeping and gnashing of teeth of souls in Hell, it's the weeping and gnashing of teeth of Sociologists, Criminologists, Anthropologists, and half a dozen other fields.

You would think someone in her position at least would have the necessary educational background.

I have long said that I think the politicians know better. They are just using religion and religious people to control the rest of the population. They are educated, but they are talking to people or are at least trying to reach the uneducated religious voters. Unfortunately, it works far too well.

Even if she has the education, it wouldn't shock me if you're right about using it as a method of control on uneducated voters. Sad

Also...can today be over yet? Just dropped a tablet and a laptop while going to class (fortunately both still work after the fall and screens aren't cracked), and then later tripped on some cables that IT just keeps laying on the floors of the classrooms right into the wall (my thumb is an impressive purple beneath the nail now). This comes after it being eval day, a day filled with existential terror for faculty here. Also didn't get much sleep last night courtesy of neighbors playing their music next to my bedroom wall until 1:00am.

Dodgy

Addendum to earlier whine about waking up super early....

Well...after getting my kiddo to school, I fell asleep on the sofa. Had a weird dream, then woke up...still needed to go to the store so I left, but forgot to make a real shopping list so I 'winged' it. Nothing good ever comes from that shit.

I guess this week, we're eating chicken legs and hot dogs...without buns.

Oh and linguisa...

Oh and for some reason I bought four green apples we probably didn't need and forgot completely the tomatoes we probably did. Facepalm

Ask if there is extra pay for performing the job of supervisor.

Might be worth free training or they might be looking for someone to do the work that they don't have to compensate for it. I think I have worked for the same company. Dodgy

> Slice the hot dogs into ½" lengths and heat them up in barbecue sauce. You don't need the buns for that. Tongue

> You can also slice them in half lengthwise and serve them between slices of regular, toasted bread. Thumbsup

The supervisor pay rate is actually less then my security pay rate. I have the highest pay rate as a security person short of running the whole store or working stockroom (which requires a forklift licence so is sorta classified as a "specialist" job)

This company I work for is actually really good regarding pay. They outline exactly, to everyone, what jobs pay what and what your pay increments are going to be. Basically we get a 20-40c pay rise every 6 months, not including company wide general pay raises, until we get to a certain level (and so every job has different start rates) and then once you've been at the company for... 3? maybe 5 years or worked something like 2,000 hours they'll put you onto what they call the career wage which starts at like $22 an hour ($15.50USD) and than that itself goes up to like $24 an hour ($17USD). The career wage is higher than non-career wages. So like at the moment I'm at the highest security wage, $20 an hour. My wage still goes up with just general company wide pay increases (like 50c a year) but once I reach 2,000 hours or 3/5 years they'll put me on the career wage.

Considering this is a no-skill minimum wage job this company is very good at paying their employees. Especially considering we're the largest retailer country wide and they have several thousand employees.

For comparison, my flatmate is 2IC of the software half of the store he works at and he gets $17 an hour. He never gets a pay rise, he always has to ask for them and rarely gets it even than.

Most jobs that are minimum wage type jobs will pay minimum wage, or like 50c above minimum wage. So the company I work for is a bit of a minimum wage type job gold mine in that regards.

Im sorry Muffs that truly blows. I hope you find another job then you can tell them to shove it.

Edited to add, if you want a new job..that is.
