Stuffed. Totally stuffed. Blush

Haha. That reminds me of a hilarious incident while I was volunteering in some years ago. So, we're cleaning a tiny dam (not really a dam, just a place where some of the animals would come to drink) and I decide to take off my rubber boots and go into the water barefoot.

Well, you all know how slippery surfaces get when there is oldish water... I take a couple of uncertain steps, one of the local guys working with us says: "Careful not to fall, Vera" to which I reply, with all the confidence in the whole wide world "I ain't gonna fall" and the very next second - plop I go, butt-first into the middle of the water. Have rarely laughed so much in my life... I also gave my mp3 player a water burial that day...

I think this is the moment when it happened (on the other side of the dam-let) captured for posterity. Sadly, my plunge was not so captured...

(I also "fixed" a leaky toilet there.. by breaking the thingy inside and being totally drenched by the subsequent geyser)

Was at the grocery store last night and I was unchaining my bike ready to leave and I get approached by some lady who asked if I'd buy her a 12 pack [of beer]. I get approached by people asking for money or alcohol quite often, normally I'm quiet polite and ease them down like "sorry I'm all out of money" or some such shit. Not anymore apparently. I literally laughed and said "fuck no". It just sorta came out like that. The look on her face though, holy shit totally worth. I don't think she's used to people being so blunt about it.

Just lately, customers at work have been pissing me off so much with their stupidity. I like to think my customer service and patience is very good at work, but by god my patience is basically gone. If the customer is good I'll be good, helpful, nice etc.. But like the shoplifters especially, no time or patience. No I don't give a shit how broke you are. No, I don't give a shit how many kids you have. No I don't care that the company I work for can afford it. No I don't care about your gang family members who will come and beat me up. No I don't care how many names you call me. No I don't care if you never shop here ever again you're trespassed anyway and I don't want your friends or family in here. You were planning on buying that tshirt you just shoved down your jacket, yea I don't think so get the fuck out. No I will not stop escorting you out and no, I don't care how embarrassed I'm making you feel. No, we don't have a toilet we just shit down the aisles, retard. No I don't give a shit what the other security guy lets your kid ride around the store on this little push ride on toy things, I'm not the other guy. Yes I saw you just leave your empty starbucks cup there and yes I am staring at you and than towards the bin, yes I am suggesting something. Oh? we close at 9pm, that's funny because I've worked here almost 3 years and I'm fairly certain we're always closed at 8pm.. but what would I know, it's not like I close up 4 days a week or anything... Yes we have 3 minutes before 8 and no I don't care, that's close enough to closing time I'm not letting you in. I don't care about your parking issues that's not my problem. I don't care how much of a rush you're in. No, you can't look at the cameras. No I haven't seen your friend or child or wallet or car keys or common sense.

^^^What he said^^^

I don't work security but I've dealt with many of those issues. It is very hard sometimes to quash my sarcasm and maintain decorum. You didn't mention my favorite, Muffs:

Customer: "Do you work here?"
Me: [looks at uniform shirt with embroidered namepatch and company logo] "Yes, I suppose I do."

I don't get this issue. I know it's suppose to be a classic but yea, I never get it. I think because our uniforms are so distinctive. I actually get the opposite issue. I'll be outside work wearing my jacket with my uniform underneath, people will recognize the collar of my uniform and ask me work related shit. If I'm on my break or just got in to work or just leaving and have my jacket on people will ask still ask me for help or where a product is etc..

I hope the people that make mattresses so obnoxiously expensive die by mass larval infestation.

Hold the embalming fluid, guys, I'll live (sorry to disappoint Rolleyes ).

But god, was that a hard night! European viruses usually have the decency to send me the symptoms one after the other, you know, first my throat hurts, *then* I get a runny nose, etc. But no, this one, being Brazilian, was hard and fast (yes, I am perfectly aware what I just said, did you honestly think I wasn't!). And then my sinuses were so bad, not only did my forehead and eye sockets hurt, but also my jaw and my freaking cheek. How cheeky! Dodgy

I also lost - another! - fifty sth. edited pages. What the actual fuck, universe! Censored

(I scared the bejesus out of my publishing house last time, when I told them I've lost all I'd edited... and they thought I'd lost the entire translation (which took two months). Like I would even survive such a thing!)

Laugh out load I know I shouldn't laugh, but your description is hilarious.

Well, like they say in my beloved Portuguese: com o mal dos outros, posso eu bem. Dodgy

Though, to be fair, I've never been sure whether it means the pain of others seems like nothing to me (my problems are always bigger than those of others) or the pain of other actually gives me pleasure...

With the second meaning, apparently, they have the following: "Pimenta no cú (or - olhos) dos outros para mim é refresco". "Pepper in someone else's butt (or eyes) is refreshment to me." Rolleyes

RE: Ranting corner
If two people don't have assets of much worth and ask the bank, jointly, for a small (like $15,000 tops) business loan, borrowing against the business (due to having no personal assets) would that be much more likely to be successful than if one person did it? Because what's stopped me from getting a business loan now is all the information I find about business loans is the first question they always seem to ask is "do you have a house you can borrow the money against?". Mate, I don't even have a car.

But it occurred to me that this guy from work is also in the same situation as me, shitty low work hours, can't find other work etc.. he might be interested in going into business for ourselves. I dunno, is that good idea? If it fails I don't wanna land him with half the debt. Taking the risk on for myself is one thing, asking someone to share said risk is something else. Don't wanna come across peer pressure-y.

Probably not going to help you with the bank, but if your friend's interested enough to work with you to get your business going enough to generate some revenue, in a year or two the bank might be willing to lend. As cosigners for a business loan, you'd want someone with a solid credit rating and some assets. (family?)

If I'm up and running generating revenue I won't need a bank loan. Tongue
The issue with having my parents co-signing is, if things go tits up they're not exactly well off and I'd hate for them to lose the house. They recently sold off the land they had that came with the house and renovated the house. But my dads retired and my mom's not in stable employment. I don't wanna be one of those people that have their parents co-sign for something, can't pay it and their parents are stuck with the bill. If I'm taking the risk it's my responsibility.

All kinds of reasons you'd still need a loan once you're generating revenue. Maybe you want to expand to a new location, upgrade your equipment, load up on inventory, etc.

It's understandable you don't want to risk your family's financial stability. You're a good writer. I bet you'd be able to set up a compelling Go Fund Me page. Maybe that's a way to get some startup money?
