New work turned out to be shit - less money than promised and potentially more hours in it. It's good thing that my almost former firm called today.

Still I would like honest offer for once not lies before first day of work.

The first revolt is against the supreme tyranny of theology, of the phantom of God. As long as we have a master in heaven, we will be slaves on earth.

I'm surprised Botswana did that, they're generally regarded as pretty progressive in Southern Africa. I'd have expected Zimbabwe to be on the list. And what about Uganda? Uganda actually *has* the death penalty just for being gay, IIRC.
Wtf is wrong with America ? Not surprising about Japan though after all underage henti and lolicon are still legal there. Dodgy

It's legal in the US too. Cartoons don't suffer harm, nor do they hurt anybody. So long as you indicate that the loli looking character is actually of the age of consent (either in context or with a disclaimer), then it's entirely legal this side of the pond. But Japan is it's own weird juxtaposition, with their own peculiar cultural hangups about sex. The tentacle erotica stuff actually dates back to at least 1814, and took greater root in modern culture as a way to attempt to circumvent their regulations to censor explicit material; the genitals in Japanese porn, both filmed and drawn, are censored. But while they're busy censoring some of the world's strangest porn, they also have the Festival of the Steel Phallus each spring (Kanamara Matsuri) where they sell dick shaped novelties and tote around a giant penis statue through the streets.

Japan is fuckin' weird.

RE: Ranting corner
I have so many rant-worthy things, I can't simply list them all and to name one or two is a huge disservice to my numerous complaints.

Let's just go with "oh fuck off" and be done with it.

I feel so much better now.

I think the double standard in Japan is about innocence. If you teach kids at an early age how the body actually works, there will probably be absolutely no women staying a virgin until they turn 18. Also, as far as the drawings go. It is true that nobody gets hurt. Better for guys that are into that to whack off to animated or drawn stuff than go actually hurt someone. In my opinionDrinking Beverage.

Sorry mate but no, the objectification of child like characters in cartoon pornography is wrong regardless of clever caveats about age or the obfuscation of genitals, its illegal in Britain and Europe for all the right reasons and should be in the USA Japan and all other countries also. Tentacle porn is weird but if it involves obviously 18 plus characters I've no problem, cartoon characters don't suffer harm but can give legitimacy to activities that do do harm and should be stopped.

Dude, cartoons don't actually have ages. Cartoons aren't alive. Depending on the particular art ascetic, there may be little (if any) discernible features to indicate age. Being 4 feet tall with A-cups can fit a large age range, and that's before you get into samey doe-eyes and anime hair. Plus, at the end of the day, it's fiction. You're a vampire away from from explaining why the seemingly little girl is in fact a centuries old woman. It's fiction, context can be whatever you write it to be.

Case in point, Yoko Littner (redhead) and Shinobu Oshino (blonde). Are either or both of them 'obvious 18' adults? Between the two, which one looks older?

[Image: vFaQ1RG.jpg][Image: Shinobu-oshino-bakemonogatari.jpg?982602]

Yoko starts out her adventure in the animated series (Gurren Lagann) at age 15, complete with daisy dukes, bikini top, and sniper rifle. Shinobu (from Bakemonogatari) on the other hand is one of those centuries old vampires; 598 years to be exact.

Between the two, which one's sexual objectification bothers you more? The much older looking teenager? Or the centuries old vampire who just looks like a middle schooler?

Cartoons no more legitimize non-consensual sex than video games legitimize non-consensual murder. If you play Call of Duty, and it fuels your desire for a killing spree, you have much bigger problems than just playing Call of Duty; and it would be both unfair and disingenuous to lay the weight that responsibility at the game's feet. I've killed battalions worth of digital Nazi's, and I've killed just as many sperm wanking off to pornography; and not only have I yet to rape or kill anyone, I have no desire to. I have a healthy respect for what is, and is not, fantasy.

Very well said. It is mainly looks alone that bother people. You can be a 30 year old and date one of the women who have the medical condition that makes them look too young (usually they look mid teens) when they are actually in their early 20's (completely legal age) and everyone still wants to hang you for it. As well as causing a way too young to be legal look, it also causes menopause by age 30. I don't know what it is called, but I know the attitude is people prefer the women afflicted with the condition should not reproduce, as the only people that would be interested in them must be pedophiles. I do not condone sex with the actual underage, but people are really irrational.

Like another thread mentioned, Hollywood keeps doing reboots. I know so many writers, and there are so many good stories on Amazon and other ebook sellers.

I understand studios must make money and rely on tried & true franchises. But goddamn Hollywood is where it is by taking chances. Now, mostly regurgitated pablum.
