When I was a kid, there were very few times my dad left the house without a tie. We used to tease him that he'd get dressed up to mow the lawn.

I don't know if it was a general social custom or something he did because he was a pastor, but he felt it was important to always be professional in any setting.

Old generations make no sense to me.

At least the seem to be more reasonable than my generation.

First photograph of a human being. (seen bottom left in the photograph)

Taken by 1838 by Louis Daguerre in Paris, at Le Boulevard Du Temple. Daguerre invented the daguerreotype process of photography.

Only that man (identity unknown) is seen in the picture, because the exposure took 10 minutes - one needs to stay still to be captured. How did he end up in the photograph? He was having his shoes shined at the time.
