The "Awakens" director appears to have considered Star Wars some kind of delightful, adventurous romp, where mayhem just also happens to ensue. I'm not convinced he gets what goes on beneath the surface of life.

IMO, he screwed up the Star Trek universe with a similar directorial attitude.

He better do right by the Last Jedi or the title might become not even slightly ironic. Dodgy

Abrams is not doing Last Jedi. Rian Johnson is.

Quote:His debut film, made for just under $500,000, Brick is a crime drama. Johnson has often said that he looked to the novels of Dashiell Hammett as inspiration for the film's unique use of language. While the film is classified as a film noir, Johnson claims that no references were made to film noir during production, so as to focus the production away from reproducing a genre piece. Brick was released on DVD by Focus Features.[6]

Same link. Brick was fabulous. Heart

Get Out.

eh.. 6/10 I guess. I mean it wasn't bad, the end was great, but it was just one of those movies you watch once and forget about.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 with my son. 7/10. He really enjoyed it (he's 14). Funny at times, Lots of cameos, but what made the first so good is not as unique in vol 2. While they pushed the mini-groot for cuteness a bit, it didn't make it to Ewok level.

I would rate the first movie 9/10 for reference. Vol 1 and Deadpool are my favorite "comic" movies for their willingness to not take themselves too seriously.

Guardians 2...same as devilsadvoc8. 7/10 It was funny at some points, the cameos were nice, and it gut punched you in the feels multiple times. But yeah, parts seemed to drag on and it wasn't as unique as the first.

Need to think of a witty signature.

Recently re-watched:

The Dark Knight - Still holds up, and despite an odd section during the third act, it's miles above some of the current DC stuff.

Spectre - My wife loves this movie. I think its "OK". Not as good as Casino Royale.

I don't want Fop, goddamn it! I'm a Dapper Dan man!

Alien: Covenant

Full review here (spoiler free). In a nutshell: FUCKING BRILLIANT! Better than: Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, and Prometheus. It was everything I hoped it would be and more.

The Martian. 9/10.

I really enjoyed that movie. It was a really good combination of science and movie. Plus Matt Daymon is always awesome.

I was surprised that I also liked that movie. I didn't expect to.

Interstellar (I think it was called) I hated that movie.

Yeah, I didn't like Interstellar either, though it was funny that Matt Damon played a marooned astronaut in that movie and The Martian too.
