And that singing... Luckily for us, there was not that much singing as I feared it will be, when they first started. Even while reading the book, I was skipping those songs, never was much of a poet, nor do I appreciate the poetry.

Chas, I think that the movie can be good for you, if you can disregard that one scene. So just cut out 5 minutes from 3 hour long movie (in your head) and you're golden.

P.S.
DLJ, who the fuck is Edna? Did you enjoy the bed, you, god-damn you, you... Grrr... Tongue
Yes, the stone giants were in the book. They were fighting in the storm in the mountains before the group hid in the cave, then captured by orcs, ...

So, if that is the 'transformers', I'm good with it.

Yeah, but they transform from giant stone tractor-trailers. Drinking Beverage

A Tree Grows In Brooklyn... I'm not a big fan of the rating scale idea, but I'd rate this film a 8/10 It does a great job capturing some tensions of personalities and the amusing pipe dreams of the father/daughter Cool

Latest Movie:
A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas 3D.
About what you'd expect from a stoner movie at Christmas time.
That means I really liked it. 3.5 out of 5 Netflix stars. Thumbsup

...

The voice of the Great Goblin was Barry Humphries aka Dame Edna Everage.

The bed was great. A new experience. There were only 3 other couples in the whole place.

I even stood up for the national anthem. I never did that in England.

All round enjoyment but I haven't seen the 48 frame version yet.

Well, I saw it.
Angry

Peter Fucking Jackson has done it again.

Did he read, like, every fourth page of The Hobbit while drunk? Did he even read it?
Or does he just hate Tolkien?

Because he certainly has shown disrespect for Tolkien, the book and Tolkien fans.
His plot only vaguely resembles the book's, the characters are caricatures. There is embarrassingly bad slapstick humor, mocking portrayals, and over-the-top action scenes.

I am not a good enough writer to express my disgust with the asshole who made this movie, or express the vituperation he deserves.
Essentially it's a big FUCK YOU Peter Fucking Jackson.

He is a philistine who should be making Grade-B action movies, not misrepresenting his crap as Tolkien's fine tales. He makes Disney's crap look good.

Bottom line: This is a movie for 13-year-olds who've never read the book.
