Rats Show Empathy And Altruistic Behavior
The topic of animals and abuse comes up in a few debates with William Lane Craig vs Christopher Hitchens. I also see various other comments about animals. The Idea of animals having a soul or even a place in the believer's heaven is generally not acceptable. I wonder why they think themselves so special!

Anyway, here is a cool news article I thought some might enjoy.

RE: Rats Show Empathy And Altruistic Behavior
Awesome article. I see this all the time believe it or not. As some of you know, I raise rats as a small business. We usually have a rat or two running around the barn free, after escaping their enclosure during cleaning. We always make sure there is no food lying around, since when they get hungry, they usually just come to us so we can put them back in their home where the food is. Sometimes though, we will catch them getting food passed to them from the rats in the enclosures. The top is a mesh screen, and the rats inside will take a piece of food and hold it up through the screen for the "escapee" to grab.

Rats are VERY cool animals.

So many cats, so few good recipes.

Nice. I didn't find it particularly surprising or even unexpected. Wink

Jailbreak Rat: Selfless Rodents Spring Their Pals and Share Their Sweets

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

I'm like you, I didn't find it surprising. I just like when science finds more to shoot down the nonsense Smile

RE: Rats Show Empathy And Altruistic Behavior
I brought this study up in my theology class last week as the teacher was explaining to us how we are above animals because they do not have souls and thus do not have the ability to "think, choose, or love." Tongue

Oh, the same thing that usually happens whenever I point out a contradiction. I got a long, unintelligible reply that sounds pretty good but doesn't actually make sense.
