RE: Reason for Being.
For the simple fun that mind can react upon matter.

Once, I was told I was guilty, needed redemption. Felt quite worthless and hopeless.

Yet my mind still could react upon matter, the basis of all actions.

Helping the community. Making my little contribution to the society as well as earning a living. My actions count. That's great fun. No need for a supreme being to fill me with meanings of life.

Want something? Then do something.

Writing. Filming. Creating. Finding ass. Tapping said ass. Doing other stuff.

Through profound pain comes profound knowledge.

RE: Reason for Being.
To quote Alan Davies, I'm here because of "people shagging for decades, ending up with me". I am here through no fault agency of my own, just like that cat crossing the street right now or the forget-me-nots beneath my window. That good enough a reason?

Now, what makes my life worth living (or at least killing myself too much of a hassle)? Lots of things. But they are only of interest and concern to me.

And there is nothing mysterious about life on earth. It appeared, just as it will one day disappear. And I'm pretty sure, by that time people will have long since stopped existing and our self-absorbed desire to find hidden meanings behind existence - gone, too. Life is and one day it isn't anymore, there is nothing more to it, behind it or after it.

RE: Reason for Being.
There is no reason and I accept that. I do have my animal reasons and have procreated to prove that. Mostly my reason is that I have been able to have a good time enjoying life. So simple and others have made a more complete statement.

Getting caught by the explanations from theists about why they live and arguing against them is pissing into a hurricane. We exist we have no need for meaning other than we should enjoy are life.

We should of course avoid harming others in that enjoyment.

Because you are a tool. Manufacture of purpose separates from mere primate.

Who are we, primate? Big Grin

I have traced Crowley's contention of "do what thaou wilt is the extent of the law" back to Augustine. It's a sola fides contention. I fear not the expression of my will FOR i AM EVERYBODY!!!!!11!!! LOLZ.

And for the most part, I can keep my hole shut. Except for now, of course. Big Grin

RE: Reason for Being.
My raison detre is that I experience emotion, and my emotional state abhors death. Thus I live to satisfy my emotions, which include both self-interested and altruistic feelings. It's not rocket science. Drinking Beverage

To strive in educating and convincing the public with thrilling and entertaining stories to change the world for the better. Why? Because I am not a sociopath, and feel a great sense of accomplishment and joy seeing that the human thrives, and that I contributed to that progress.
