Religion promotes crime
Article in the Daily Mail , 23 June, 2012:

Quote:Why criminals believe in heaven: People who trust in redemption more likely to break the law than those who think there's a hell

• Research in the US finds higher crime rates in nations where most people believe in punishment in the afterlife
• Study examined data from more than 140,000 people in 67 countries

Crime rates are higher in countries where more people believe in heaven than in hell, researchers have found.

The finding emerged from a study into 26 years of data involving more than 140,000 people from almost 70 nations.

The results suggest that people are more likely to feel they can get away with criminal behaviour if they don't believe they could be punished in the afterlife.

Abolition?

I want to say I want to see the day when people abandon religion in favor of reason.

But I want to that to be a choice made by individuals, and not forcibly imposed on them.

It's evidently true that forcing any one belief upon people leads to dissent in great numbers, and a great amount of violent repression.

Albania was the "first atheist nation".
The result was as bad as the salem witch trials. Since it's almost impossible to try and get into somebodies head to police their thoughts.

So here is an ancient video showing how the state perverted atheism for their use.

There is an enormous difference between an atheist state and a secular state.

There are also great similarities between an atheist state and a religious state.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

I agree. Just trying to show the dangers of abolishing religion through the state.

RE: Religion promotes crime
Who said the state should abolish religion? The state should do nothing of the sort! It's none of the state's business what people think or believe.

People should abolish religion out of their own conviction. Out of their own free will.

However, with religion gone what will fill the void? It could just as easily be something even worse than religion! Odds are that it will be.

TBH, I have a feeling that the expression is right: Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't!

Religion is dying a slow death, but it is dying.
Embarrassment of holding religious belief is the strongest social weapon.

RE: Religion promotes crime
Nobody found this article retarded as fuck? They keep saying about "people who believe in Haven" vs. "people who believe in Hell"? The difference? How can you believe in one, but not in another? Who wrote this anyway?

Unfortunately, this is so badly written, it can not be used in an intelligent debate. Let keep searching.

P.S.

If you go to read the article on the original site, could you please put a +1 on Nigels comments and -1 on Catrins? Thank you
