Religion provides comfort to a world gone mad!
Angel Unless you want a hamburger & a glass of milk. Blink

In 2015 a Muslim man was beaten to death in Uttar Pradesh after reports that he had beef in his fridge. Since then, there have been regular reports of cow protection vigilante groups attacking people transporting cattle across the country.

I've been reading about this for a while. It seems to be escalating.

RE: Religion provides comfort to a world gone mad!
Remember how our media celebrated Aung San Suu Kyi as the galant freedom fighter suffering under house arrest? Turns out this lady is a monster in her own right. She's one of the driving forces behind the Buddist ethnic cleansing against the muslim minority in Myanmar.

Kind of a two birds with one stone story. Never trust our media narrative not to be biased and never trust some religious person coming into power.

Rule one of Religion Club: YOU do not get to do what MY religion forbids ME to do. Else, you're treading on MY religious freedom, you soulless, moral-less, hellbound sub-human. But I and Jesus, Muhammed and the rest of man's gods love you, you know Drinking Beverage

That's actually the point of the article, the Muslim guy is okay with eating beef, he was beaten to death by Hindus who want to force their "holy cow" beliefs on everyone else. As if there aren't enough stupid things to fight over.

NOTE TO ANY CREATORS OF NEW RELIGIONS OUT THERE: Don't choose an animal as your "holy" icon that is in any way edible. Pick something that most people aren't gonna wanna fuck with... like a great white shark, or a scorpion or something.

That reminds me. We have a guy at our Fire Station that converted to seventh day Adventist because his wife made him. He was a baptist before that. Now he won't eat bacon and other shit because of it. This tells me two things.

1: He was not very strong in his original faith to be so easily swayed

2: He is weak for not standing up for his belief system (flawed as it may be)

So now I make it a point to put bacon grease in most everything we cook so he's going to hell by proxy.

I get to decide what my life looks like, not the other way around.

I have a question, as a Pastafarian is pizza forbidden? Because if it is then fuck Pastafarianism, I’ll go find another religion.

And hopefully...

3: He probably is weak enough in his new faith that he wouldn't physically assault you if he ever found out.

Maybe we can never get rid of religions completely, but maybe... hopefully we can at least make them lazy or weak about it.

RE: Religion provides comfort to a world gone mad!
This might be unpopular to say but Islam and Christianity are far more menacing than Hinduism and Buddhism. India is already extremely multicultural so I get that they have to accept the cultures that are already entrenched. I've been to India and my impression is that Indians are actually much more tolerant of religious diversity than America. Imagine an upper middle class American neighborhood being woken up at 4 AM every morning by a Muslim minority's call to prayer. Myanmar though. I get why they wouldn't want Islam expanding there. With all of the problems they have I'm willing to ignore how they go about weeding out Islam. I'm not saying it's right or I agree with it. I'm just saying equal rights for Muslims in Myanmar isn't at the top of my list. I get that Myanmar doesn't want to be a North Korean/Pakistani hybrid.
