RE: Religion tree
There's another religion tree somewhere on here with an even greater profusion of branches. Both these trees display the signature flaw of religiosity: divergence instead of convergence of "what's known". Which is to be expected: religion doesn't "know" anything: the entire enterprise is supposition, speculation, wild dream and desire.

Were a similar "tree" drawn illustrating the advance of science, it'd have a plethora of roots, all the early theories of how the universe works, steadily converging into a single trunk of knowledge, the exact reverse of religion's divergence and fragmentation.

Is there a drawing of that tree anywhere? We should post it here.

RE: Religion tree
I'd imagine it works something like this;

Science builds on the ideas and theories of the past, more easily summarised as standing on the shoulders of giants.

Whereas religion tends to schism, take elements from other faiths, and disagree with the other branches. Rinse and repeat.

RE: Religion tree
Thinking more about it, that religious tree isn't a tree, it's a schematic diagram of nuclear fission, radioactive decay, atomic structures disintegrating, violently. No flowers or fruit from that "tree". Mushroom clouds instead.

Where's the one true religion: Scientology?

@devi8 I looked for Scientology too. It's missing from both pics.
What does that tell us? Smile

That it's the victim of a brutal coverup, and it's all followers are persecuted?

(I feel I need to note the above is an attempt at humour Wink )
