I doubt that Singapore will be the first target.
And it's hot chocolate.

The moderates have more 'peace-weapons'.

Even when a right-wing, evangelical, end-times nutter gets into the White House, there are enough checks and balances (and non-nuclear weapons profiteers) to keep a lid on state sanctioned extremism.
lol oh no. You thought I was talking about them? Only threat from them is theocracy. I'm more concerned with the islamic extremists.

Hehehe. Nope.

I was being coyly culturally relativistic.

My bad.

I'm no more worried about Islamists with bombs than I am about extreme feministas or Man Utd fans or Sarah Palinists etc. with bombs.

I'm not saying I'm not worried, I'm just saying I'm not more worried.
i.e. e.g. the moderates in Iran, Saudi Arabia etc. vastly outnumber the extremists.

I find sociopathic war-profiteers more worrying than the psychopaths they exploit.

RE: Religious moderates: a step in the right direction or cover for extremists?
I think extremists are those who take their religion very seriously and apply it to other people whether they like it or not, while moderates are those who keep religion more personal and don't follow every word of their holy book for the sake of functioning in a diverse, modern world. An extremist kills homosexuals because his holy book says execution was a just sentence in one story. A moderate may be homophobic, but tolerates homosexuals, and may even support same-sex marriage, since allowing gay people to marry doesn't affect his "legitimate" marriage.

The abundance of moderates makes religion seem less harmful, but it also makes it less harmful. If the percentage of moderates increases, the percentage of extremists decreases. That means religious people as a whole are more willing to compromise and adapt, and less willing to explode car bombs.

It would be best if there was no religion at all, and perhaps the prevalence of moderates means religion remains socially acceptable longer, but I'd rather have one million moderates than fifty thousand extremists.

If something can be destroyed by the truth, it might be worth destroying.

What I dislike about this is what exactly is a moderate. I consider myself a very conservative catholic, I.E. I follow all the tenants given by the Catholic Church and consider them to be the truth.
Yet I also live in Toronto. My boss was a Sunni muslem from Iran, My best friends in High school were an atheist, a guy who made up his own theology, and a guy who keeps criticizing God. So what am I.

I'm homophobic in the same way that I'm arachnophobic. I'm not scared of gay people but I'm going to scream if I find one in my bath.

I'm. Also homophobic in the same way I'm arachnophobic. I'm scared of spiders but I'd still fuck'em.

Eclectically doctrinal?

Dunno.

When was the last time you killed someone for disagreeing with you?

A glutton for punishment? Tongue Nah, I'm just fucking with you, you're okay. A fundie to me is one who is so defensive of their metaphysics that they need me to accept it in order to shore up their insecurities concerning their own crumbling foundation. In short, methinks they doth protest too much. A moderate does not require this external validation. Cantor don't give a shit whether you accept the Gwynnies or not. He don't expect you to.

Here's a Christian kid Girly's got no problem with. They oughtta turn out more like him.

What if I told you God is gay?
Do you think belligerent bible-belters
Would still holler hate speech to the hilltops
In His name?
Or do you think they would reread the scriptures
They say they swear and survive by
See, I've been reading the Bible again lately
And I think I've taken a leaf from their holy book,
Picking passages for my purpose
Which is in short
To let you know it's very possible God is gay.
I mean think about the book of Genesis
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth
And it wasn't just good, it was fabulous.
I mean what else is our planet but the pinnacle
Of exterior design, and I don't mean to generalize
But it certainly seems like that the Garden of Eden
Was designed by queer, I mean divine eye for the straight guy
But some Christians would go as far as to call
God's creations abominations
Heretics calling themselves faithful
When their faith is full of belief that only God may pass judgment
Matthew 7:1 Judge and you too shall be judged
Luke 6: 37 Condemn not and you shall not be condemned
Fred Phelps 2006: You're going to hell! God hates fags!
A history lesson: A faggot is a bundle of sticks
Originally used as kindling for fires that engulfed gays
When they were burned at the stake, people were firewood
But Moses came across wood on fire and saw God in it,
What is a burning bush but bundles of branches
On fire, isn't it funny how faggots and God can look the same sometimes?
Keep in mind Jesus had two dads and turned out just fine
In fact, Jesus had two dads and a surrogate mother
That never had sex with either of them,
Maybe Mary was a lesbian
And I remember the prayer going
"Hail Mary, full of grace"
Not full of sin,
"Pray for us sinners"
For we have become blinded by bigotry.
And forgotten that God gave us the rainbow
As a promise that we will never be flooded again
Either with rain or ignorance
And now all the homosexual Homo sapiens
Stand more united under God's rainbow
Than all of his denominations do around the cross.
I was brought up believing that my Savior loved us all
And never had to specify "no homo"
But if you have hate in your heart
Say it don't pray it
Don't teach it and for the love of God don't preach it
Because I am tired of these fire and brimstone sermons
Slinging slurs when they're not firing brimstones
From voices that should be filled with love and praise
Instead of raised with hate and rage
I am a Christian, and I believe in saying the Christian thing.
Which used to sound like "Love thy neighbor as thyself"
But now sounds more like hate at the top of your picket signs
The closest thing to God being "Hell, is waiting for you"
They're passing out damnation pamphlets
Filled with out-of-context Bible verses
Trying to define God
When his meaning is clear.
He is acceptance, He is pride, He is humility, He is just,
God is perfection, God is protection, God is love,
But most importantly
God is gay

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
