RE: Religious people
Fuck I really need to learn to read. Would be helpful. This kid was *handing out the book of fucking Morm...*... I cannot deal with this shit. WTF? "Hey Jessica, I know you're only 6 but it's time to start saving souls for Jesus"...

Fuck me. That's a new one... God you think you've seen the dregs of humanity and they pull out another surprise. Probably don't even realise what ginormous assholes they are...

Apologies for the swearing... I'm not even sure why but this pushes my rage button pretty hard...

RE: Religious people
The only thing I hate about religious people.... Is that they are religious.

RE: Religious people
One word..........

HIPOCRISY

For no matter how much I use these symbols, to describe symptoms of my existence.
You are your own emphasis.
So I say nothing.

Or the other word, hypocrisy.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.
Science is not a subject, but a method.

RE: Religious people
Religious people are not so much arrogant about themselves, but more about having the "truth".
If they give up the "truth" they give up everything. This is the root cause of the delusional behavior.
If you centered your entire reason for existence around a "truth" and someone showed you that it was not the truth, how would you react?
Deny the contrary facts the best you can and just ignore them where you can't argue them down.
You will believe any argument that supports your belief in the "truth".
This is by definition "mental illness".

Imagine if a close loved one died, but the pain was so intense that you pretended that they were still alive and just out of town for a while. You constantly talked about them as if you would see them next week. Anyone would say that you needed to see a professional therapist and probably need some anxiety medication. You would be talked into the acceptance of reality slowly until your mind could accept it. What's the difference in this mental state and a religious one? Nothing except we don't consider the religious mentally ill because there are so many of them. This mental illness seems to be the "norm". Talking about seeing a loved on again in Heaven is not considered "crazy", but how could it be described any other way?

The old gods are dead, let's invent some new ones before something really bad happens.

RE: Religious people
Thomas.

On behalf of psychologists everywhere, what you're describing has nothing whatsoever to do with mental illness.

RE: Religious people
Adults who let themselves be brainwashed with mythology and then push their myths as fact.

Your beliefs do not make you a better person, your behavior does.
