Removing "In God We Trust" Signs
Hi fellow atheists! Its been quite some time since I've been on this website but I have a question that perhaps one of you can help me with?Thumbsup I was enduring a lovely visit to my local DMV the other day and as I was exiting I noticed a decent sized bronze plaque tacked on the exterior of the building displaying the words "IN GOD WE TRUST" .Gasp Facepalm

WHAT THE HELL DMV

Now I can understand MABY seeing this on an older building, but this particular DMV is a fresh build and I am baffled as to why this would ever be allowed!? Consider

Is there a way to have this removed?! How or who do I need to track down? HAYLP

Contact the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

You can report the violation on their web site.

RE: Removing "In God We Trust" Signs
I would be surprised if any legal action would work to change it other than just public pressure. According to standing precedent still from Supreme court cases half a century ago, it stands that "in God We Trust" is so loosely random and doesn't actually mean anything, allegedly, so it's not any actual endorsement of religion. That was the justification for it being on Money and put on buildings.

Majority of the people trust in God. ignore the sign.
Or put your own sign next to it "atheists do not trust in God".

How about a sign that reads "We do not believe that god exists"?

How about separation of church and state?

You either mention all beliefs or you mention none when tax money is involved. The tax payers should all be represented.

I agree. Majority trusts in God. Minority does not. So, we can have two signs.

I should have expected to to miss the point entirely. You are simply too ignorant to have any meaningful dialog with. What's worse, you revel in your ignorance. It is a real shame to see somebody waste their life like that.

The US isn't ruled by the Book of Mormon.

There is to be no favoritism of one religion over another regardless of majority/minority when it comes to public places that are funded by taxpayers.
