I think we've proven capitalism mixed with healthcare is an utter disaster.

One bad illness and BOOM; you lose your house, your savings, your child's college fund, your job, etc. And that's WITH health insurance.

The real winners here are the special interests (big pharma, insurance companies) who have infiltrated our government with endless lobbying.
I honestly don't see any way out of it, they are so intertwined at this point.

Who decides what constitutes an "acceptable" medical condition?

Insurers and state boards, that evaluate risk and form risk pools.

With car insurance reckless drivers pay considerably more for coverage than those that are careful. Insurers use a variety of factors to place people into different categories, incentivizing individuals to make changes, and driving habits, in hopes of lowering their premium.

Nobody is claiming that. What is BULLSHIT that the asshole "die quickly" fuckfaces of the GOP are doing is LYING to everyone trying to claim we want a Stalin like nanny state.

We are saying that between the ability for say a billionaire to afford something vs a fry cook, or even middle class factory worker, between the two, if they get something like cancer, the billionaire will be able to absorb the costs far more easily.

I agree, we should not be paying the same. The more you make the more you should pay. I am really fucking sick of the idea that because you make more, that entitles you to be fucking dicks to those with less.

Now you name me one human being EVER in the history of our species that has never gotten sick. When you can do that, then come back and bitch. Otherwise accept that health care should be treated as a right and not a luxury.

None of what I just typed is claiming we should become Castro's Cuba, so please don't even try that crap with me.

Take your Ayan Rand crap and shove it.

Seriously, you are mentally disturbed if you think "can't afford it, sucks to be you" is anything close to humane. You'd make a great Somalian warlord with that attitude.

How about this, break up the fucking monopolies of corporations? How about we stop caring so much about billionaires and start listening to workers?

I don't think you understand how counter productive far too much of the top 1% is. Nobody is suggesting, or should suggest you can rid the world of the private sector. But no sorry, I am tired of the bullshit "we cant afford it" crap coming from billionaires.

Same fucking crybaby mentality car companies had when Nadar pointed out RIGHTFULLY how unsafe cars were. Billionaires CAN afford to change, huge difference between "cant" and "don't want to". Billionaires can change, they just don't want to.

If my mom, who was a retired teacher, can budget her money to support both of us, then a billionaire has no fucking excuse for not finding a way to make health care more affordable for workers.

DON'T expect me to feel sorry for billionaires.

You forgot to blame the NRA.

....

Don't even suppose for a second that you know my opinion, or what I think, you clueless, loudmouthed fuck.

Moron, you brought it up, ok sure. A lobby is a lobby is a lobby, no matter the product sold. Big oil for a long time paid lobbyists to protect the lead industry to keep lead in gas.

The NRA is simply another corporate profit heat shield. I could give a fuck less what the product sold is. The only difference between guns and other products, like gas or cigarettes is morons like you make it about the object, and not public safety.

Well, this "loudmouth fuck" really doesn't give a shit what you think. I have the right to vote, and not getting everything you want all the time does not make me a dictator.

Either you value political pluralism, or you don't. If you do, then part of that is WE vote, not you, and not only when you get what you want.

Guns, like gas like candy, like cars are a PRODUCT, and like every product made regulations are not a ban. This is just you being a fucking crybaby because other people don't agree with you.

AND NO MORON, a gun is an object, so no you cannot blame the object. But you can blame the marketers of the object, just like big tobacco was forced to stop it's marketing to children. YOUR fucking attitude about not just guns, but how a free market works, is my problem. ATTITUDE.

I am for the private sector, just not monopolies of power. I have NEVER and will never call for an all out ban on guns. But we do have a problem, just like our pay gap is a problem. Suggesting we do things differently IS NOT A CALL for a Stalin state or Cuba. GROW THE FUCK UP.

You are just a fucking paranoid idiot.

Also because he was a shrewd politician. Two birds with one stone, actually. A healthy workforce and social peace. The socialists grew pretty strong back then. Bismarck cracked down on the party, but, given the electoral system of the time, individuals, not parties were elected as representatives. So quite a lot of socialists actually made it into the Reichstag. He let a little steam out of the boiling kettle by satisfying one of their major demands himself.

I am fine. I don't think our religious or economic right are. I don't even think Libertarians are fine. While they might get social issues right, to me, they really are even economically worse than the GOP.

I think the economic right is full of shit. I think they are shitting their pants because more and more people are calling out their bullshit slurs.

He is being a paranoid fuck. Nobody is out to take his rights away, taxes are not robbery. Again, not my fault he fell for the bullshit scare tactics of the economic right. I am simply fucking tired of the bullshit coming from the right.

If anyone on the right wants to know what a monopoly is based on wealth, ask anyone who lived under Gaddaffi. Ask anyone who lives in Saudi Arabia who doesn't agree with their government. Ask any Cuban who criticizes the Castro family, what a class monopoly looks like. If you think the Un family is dirt poor, then you are a fool.

Yea I am fine, not out to get anyone. But at the same time tired of placating the insecurities of paranoid morons.

"Left" does not mean dictatorship.
"Left" does not mean anti private sector.
"Left" especially DOES NOT mean, "ban all firearms".

The right simply needs to GROW THE FUCK UP. Not getting everything you want all the time and screaming false persecution is bullshit.

If the idiots on the right want to know what persecution is, they are more than welcome to move to the states I mentioned above. The worst they've gotten from me in this thread is a "bullshit" and a "fuck you".

Drink more beer; you'll feel better.

You won't actually get better, but you'll care less that you're sick.

You think I'm the rich privileged far right????

That's literally the most stereotypic, wrong assumption I've ever seen made.

You are simply wrong on so many levels. It makes one suspect you're a parody of the angry left....

Of course, as you said, his motives were somehow ulterior. But the system he installed worked, it was supposed to work to ease the pressure, and take wind out of the sails of the upcoming social democrats and socialists he disliked so much. I think it speaks somehow for itself if this system still is in operation today, over 100 years later, without fundamental changes. Like the constitution of the US with its careful dsigned checks and balances still works (somehow) today. I think 100y+ and still working is a pretty good indicator for such concepts.

What i find fascinating in relation to the discussion at hand is, how an arch conservative, monarchist and nobleman, someone who is everything but "liberal" or "progressive", an outspoken anti-socialist, didnt have any problems with such a system, while a lot of, particularly republican, politicians in the US today rather would get their teeth pulled, before agreeing to such a concept.
