We salute the Republican Congress for defending the right to keep and bear arms by preventing the President from installing a new liberal majority on the Supreme Court. ….

We oppose ill-conceived laws that would restrict magazine capacity or ban the sale of the most popular and common modern rifle. We also oppose any effort to deprive individuals of their right to keep and bear arms without due process of law."

So you don't care what other lunacy they propose, as long as you get to keep your guns? Check.

It's not often I feel proud to be British.

Or at least, not American.

The fuck you mean by a "natural inalienable right"? Some sorta God-given right? The only natural inalienable right I can think of is suicide. I don't think you've thought this through or even considered it carefully.

Equal to suicide is self-preservation. Two sides of the same coin.

Skepticism is not a position; it is an approach to claims.

Yep.

There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide. -Camus

Yeah, no one is ever able to tell me where these rights come from without invoking a god of some sort, or uttering "cuz I said so".

And god or not, it's pretty obvious that the only thing making those rights be anything other than useless, abstract concepts is the monopoly of force the government has. That's not the sort of thing people like talking about when discussing "natural inalienable rights"; especially second amendment rights, which tend to have anti-government undertones.

And every inch of that platform is filled with platitudes.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

Take that, Lumpy.
