Research for the weekend : do women make wider turns ?
Ok. I have a good friend who says women make wider turns, (driving),
and he says it's cuz they have wider hips. Ever noticed this ?
True or false ?

Yes, and blondes have more fun.

No, actually, truck drivers make bigger turns. My friend is a truck driver and when he gets in an itty-bitty car he makes the weirdest biggest turns, makes me laugh every time.

Sounds like the basis of a new religion, in that it makes almost as much sense.

I am fairly sure my hips have little to do with how I steer a car.

I'm not anti-social. I'm pro-solitude. Sleepy

Speaking as a Teamster; I've noticed that many people should probably be given professional driving lessons every 7 or 8 years... across the board - male and female. You'd be surprised what you don't now about driving, or even about the capabilities of your own vehicle.

Having said that... often equipment can be a factor and with that, engineering is a key element which would have an effect in the turn.
Mercedes. Turns on a dime. No such thing as a wide turn in a Mercedes - S class, anyway. Can't speak for the rest.

Well for a left hand corner Jax will often sit on the far right of the road in her lane (we drive on the left down here) go deep into the corner under brakes then turn in to clip the apex while accelerating out of the turn.
Both two and four wheels get the treatment.
This gives her a nice line out of the corner and enables her to see through the exit and down the road.
Also this keeps the bike/car in a straight line while under breaks with room to let off gently before tipping/turning in to keep the vehicle stable.
Often she will “trail brake” on the bike by softly applying the rear brake to stabilise the turn, also useful if you’ve gone in a little hot.
She has been known to “left foot brake” on front wheel drive cars too.
So yea, I spose she will start a corner wide.

I'm just asking !! My friend, interestingly, as Kim says, drives a Mercedes. I'm thinking that's how he cooked up his idea. But the first time he ever said it, he said "watch, she will do a wide turn", and sure enough it happened. I actually don't pay any attention to this, but almost got hit today, by a wide turner, and it reminded me of the friend's statement.
