RE: Respect for Religion
lol @ Egor

I'll admit. You're pretty good at your craft. I've seen more subtle trolls but approach works as well.

RE: Respect for Religion
Hey, Lucradis.

You're agreeing with me. You're almost ready. But first, you must face Vader!

Hey, Byrd.

Quote:Maybe I just don't understand what South Africa and Big Brothers eating lunch with their younger brothers has to do with religions getting special treatment. Call me crazy, but that doesnt make any sense to me....unless you are advocating that they aren't getting special treatment. But that would be insane.

Well I disagree with your frame. I didn't begin with the premise THAT religions get special treatment, I began with the question ARE they getting special treatment in this case?

Maybe they aren't getting special treatment. It's possible. But if you've ruled that out to begin with then of course my arguments make no sense to you. You've filtered them through a heavy bias.

South Africa was a cautionary tale about the dangers of using position to set self-interested policy and Big Brothers and Big Sisters was an example of a secular organisation that offers mentoring and the question attached was, if there was the exact same exemption for a secular organisation, would people be having the same issue?

So the next time something I say doesn't make sense to you, ask me specific questions. Don't come at me guns blazing because homey don't play dat.

Peace and Love and Empathy,

Matt

I think Egor is actually Steve Harvey.

No, he's Michelle Bachmann.

Of course it doesn't - I am a godless, immoral, heathen, satanic baby eater.

Or is it godless, immoral, satanic, baby-eating heathen?

RE: Respect for Religion
Of course we should let ministers into our schools, how else will they molest children?

You don't need God for morality, you only need a brain.

You wouldn't let your daughter date an Atheist? Well it definitely sounds safer for your daughter to trust a person who believes in a book of genocide, rape and destruction then of someone who believes in scientific fact. sounds reasonable.

The way to see by Faith is to shut the eye of Reason.” -Benjamin Franklin

It has been a long time. How have you been?
