Resume
I became an atheist just over a year ago. I will be graduating in May with an MBA. My undergrad, however, is in Religion and is from Liberty University. I prefer not to even mention that part to employers. I think it would be awkward if an interviewer started talking to me about their faith or where they went to church or something like that. I'd rather not have it be a talking point.

Should I include this on my resume or leave it off?

If you don't put it on you will likely be asked.

In an interview, it is not appropriate or legal for them to bring up religion.

Probably look worse if you have any sorts of gaps in your resume, because they would still ask you about it.

Probably better to try and find a way to kind of deflect it.

You can't just leave years off your resume... so put it for better or worse

RE: Resume
Seems pretty clear that I should leave it on. Thanks for the feedback!

RE: Resume
I'd leave it on, and an interviewer shouldn't be asking you about your faith in an interview. Just sayin.

RE: Resume
Just leave the area of concentration out of it.... Just call it a Bachelor of Science (or whatever) from Liberty U.

RE: Resume
Resumes can be a funny thing.

Any point of it may be the the thing that gets you hired, or prevents you from being hired.

Employers are just as varied as employees....

RE: Resume
A degree in the study of religion is actually a little intriguing...that is if it wasn't taught in a biased way, which I bet it was. Either way, best to leave it on. When I interview people I ask about gaps in the resume.

I prefer fantasy, but I have to live in reality.

RE: Resume
An alternative.... Leave it off......

If they ask what you were doing during that time, answer -- "Time"...
