[Moderator Powers Activate!]

*Moved to Politics*

And yes. But then again all Republican candidates frighten me. I'm not concerned though. In the latest poll, it was:

51% Obama
32% Romney
17% Stephen Colbert

That's right. The comedian telling people to vote for him as a joke is rivaling the front runner. Which tells me that people aren't giving much serious consideration to ousting Obama anyways.

RE: Rick Santorum
I for one am greatly concerned every time those people open their mouths. Sorry, Seth, I know you're conservative, but I can't seriously consider this line-up your team has to offer. I'm a fiscal conservative too, but I definitely vote on social issues since at the end of the day, social issues are the ones that define our culture.

I am a firm believer that we are a liberal nation being lead by social conservatives in both parties. The bulk of the nation doesn't even vote! If we had a law that required people to vote in every federal or state election [like Australia], the culture would reflect a very different outcome. I honestly believe that there is a very, very strong liberal silent majority that is actually so apathetic in terms of politics that they just gave up trying to change the system. Think about how liberal our culture is versus our political meter. The average age of a congressman is in their early 60s. They are dinosaurs compared to the society that people in their 20s and 30s want to run. Generation X needs to step up to the plate and dethrone these senile men.

Look at life in the eyes of a 20 or 30-something. A majority of Generation X and Y support abolishing marijuana laws, a majority support same-sex marriage, a majority think that having porn is no big deal, think birth control is okay, and most of the GenX and millennials are (*GASP) less Christian. This is not a culture trend that conservatives like. In their eyes, they think it is their moral duty to steer us back to a puritan form of life. That means more censorship, more control over a woman's body, more discrimination towards gays to keep it from becoming a "norm," and of course morph what is scientific fact into an "opinion" so that they can brainwash people against science and add creationism into public schools.

This does not reflect the culture we have of breast implants, Playboy, MTV, video games, YouTube, Comedy Central, HBO, free speech, Broadway, Spring Break, Tattoos, punk music, rap music, Richard Dawkins, illegal smoking of pot, binge drinking, free press, the pill, Hooters, condoms, Star Wars, ... basically all the sex, drugs, rock n' roll, and science. That is a LIBERAL culture, not a conservative one and that is what scares me most about Rick Santorum. He would wipe all that away. I don't want a puritan society! I want a liberal one. I won't tolerate a President who wants to tell gay people that they are not even worth the dirt at their feet, that woman have no choice when it comes to their bodies, that the government has a right to censor the internet and television more, that responsible citizens are not allowed to smoke marijuana on their own property.

Rick Santorum can basically shove it in my opinion. He is a dangerous, inhumane, authoritative douchbag that reminds me of Constantine when he converted Rome from Paganism to Christianity through sheer violence and hate.

RE: Rick Santorum
I think if Santorum got elected it would put the rights of everybody back more ten years. He talks about making our laws compatible with "God's" then chastises Muslims for wanting to do the same with allowing Shariah law in court.

Forget gay rights, He doesn't support gays adopting, marrying, or possibly even living.. I don't think its too far out to say that I think he's the "Pray away the gay" type.

Forget pro-choice, he's mentioned that he is pretty much against abortion in ALL cases.

Anything I leave out? I must say Santorum is everything I hate about religon in one package. The sort that
Shoves. It. Down. Your. Throat.

Wow, just wow. You could have at least Googled (oh, I forgot, you got a problem with Google) what the Abrahamic religions are before you opened your teatarded piehole. Wow, just wow. The stupid ... it burns.

“I get a kick out of folks who call for equality now, the people on the left, ‘Well, equality, we want equality.’ Where do you think this concept of equality comes from?” Santorum asked the enthusiastic crowd packed into a restaurant here. “It doesn’t come from Islam. It doesn’t come from the East and Eastern religions, where does it come from? It comes from the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that’s where it comes from.”

As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.

RE: Rick Santorum
If I may, does anyone in the States actually think this guy has a chance of winning?

I follow American politics as best I can (seriously you guys have so much more interesting politics than us Aussies) but I fail to see how a bloke who has essentially compared a substantial part of the voting population to dog humpers. Seriously aren't their gay conservatives out there too? This guy just isn't a smart politician in my books.

Oh yes, the entire group scares the shit out of me. You can see each one of them using their religious beliefs to make policy.

I also find it interesting how the "evangelical" vote is so damn important. Are they the only ones voting for our next Republican candidate. If so we're screwed.

Say it ain't so, Joe. Say it ain't so.
