Rods / Skyfish
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_(optics)

This is a strange little cryptozoological artifact. They often show up in caves. Most scientists and skeptics dismiss them as simply as an odd byproduct of video recording technology trying to film insects flying at high speeds.

But a few die hards out there are convinced the recorded images are of a creature so unique to life on earth, that it is capable of supersonic flight and shifting between dimensions. It is possibly of alien origin!

They are birds. A diving bird moves faster than the shutter speed of most cameras so when you go down to single frames it is still a line of movement when you look at them with high speed cameras you see it is a bird.

Birds? Look up some other videos of them. If you're still convinced that they're birds then you just refuse any other possibility.

Why is it so hard to think that there may be life that hasn't been discovered yet?

Show me a video of a fast flying insect that looks like, and has the same motion as, these "rods".

Because I watched that video (actually I saw that show when it aired the first time) that showed exactly how birds and insects make those shapes. It has to do with shutter speed and is why you only see them in video and not still photos. Watch the embedded Video it explains it perfectly.
