Russia begins airstrikes against Syria
Russians Strike Targets in Syria, but Not ISIS Areas

So, how long until Russian-backed and US-backed forces collide? How long until Russia or the US directly targets forces from the other country?

RE: Russia begins airstrikes against Syria
Russia's strategy, from the beginning, was stability through the support of Assad. They want his power stabilized so they're not fighting multiple wars on multiple fronts or, better yet, have the option of passing the torch to and equipping a re-stabilized Assad so they don't have to be as directly involved themselves., and that means quickly crushing the rebels. ISIS may be the bigger threat, but the rebels are the more immediate threat in regards to better positioning themselves to focus on ISIS. Whether we agree with their objective or not, it is rational from Russia's perspective and should have been an anticipated result of losing Russia's cooperation in the matter.

If we continue on with our current course of action/inaction, a proxy fight with Russia is inevitable.

After revolution comes a reign of terror. It was ever thus.

The status quo is changed but remains the same.

RE: Russia begins airstrikes against Syria
Destabilization of a central government inevitably results in a power vacuum. Protestors would be wise to make sure they have the force potential to fill that vacuum before blindly stirring shit up under the flawed assumption that things will magically get better as a result. All they accomplished was to make their country vulnerable in a region full of fruitcakes looking for such an opportunity. They banked everything on the assumption that someone would come to their aid and save the day. Didn't happen.

Neither did America in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Korea......

Everytime America lumbers in, everything turns to shit.

Well maybe not in Korea. Although that war is still ongoing.
