ISIS cannot be a monolithic evil, there must be reasonable men and women - if not found in the ranks of the extremists who fight, then found in the territories they control, the same with the Kurds. Everyone in the world prefers peace to war, and yet we are very happy to drop whatever we're doing and go to war for the silliest of reasons.

In 20 years or 50, will anyone care that a soldier gave his life in such and such stupid conflict, for some badly-defined political ideal? The only people who will care that he died like a dog will be his family.

"It is well that war is so terrible, otherwise we should grow too fond of it."

Why is America supporting Kurds?

Even though PKK is recognized as terrorist group by the US and everyone else, they willing to arm anyone, who would point the guns towards ISIS. That's the best solution they've come up with in such a messy situation Facepalm

And the fucked up part is, this is what the American weapons are being used for.

But when the ISIS problem is solved, will US ask the Kurds to return the guns they provided or will Kurds use the same weapons to fight Turkey , who is also US ally?
Seems awfully shortsighted by US.

Of course not, Kurds want part of Syria, Iraq and Turkey to build their own independent country. And, America supports the idea of Kurds having their independence by giving them part of Syria and Iraq, they don't say Turkey but I'm sure that's a talk behind the curtain.

Is it reasonable to expect that Kurds get their country in the near future ?
Would Turkey be opposed to this if Kurds get only part of Syria and/or Iraq and not Turkey?

As long as they don't terrorize us, we could care less. But then again, who knows what the politicians would do.
