RE: SCOTUS pusses out on gay marriage.
I'm sure the conservative judges want to put it off...
But as if to knock me down, reality came around And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces |

RE: SCOTUS pusses out on gay marriage.
The thing is, it's illegal for the Federal government to say who the states can give licenses to. (Like marriage)
So, there's not much they can do, is there? |

(Like marriage) No, they can declare laws that discriminate against citizens unconstitutional. It appears they don't want to hear those cases, because of the ripple effect. I agree...it's such a non issue That's the problem, many states want to ban gay marriage or pass laws saying marriage is between men and women only. There are other problems, in states where gay marriage is allowed, if the couple moves or resides in another state where gay marriage isn't accepted, they can't get divorced. At least as of last year, they can file a joint IRS return so there's that. But as if to knock me down, reality came around And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces |

Public sentiment is moving very quickly on this, maybe the SCOTUS thinks if they punt the issue just a bit further down the line the problem will solve itself and they will just have to do clean up. |
