RE: SUV Rights Acknowledgement
I think it's mainly because people who own SUV's are arrogant retarded snobs, so they drive like idiots.

Ban SUV's and they would end up driving terribly in something else.

I think that is an unsubstantiated generalization.

While that is utterly unsubstantiated (though obviously true) they would then be less danger to others.

I like this idea about extra class in your driving licence, kinda like a truck driver needs to get a different licence than the "normal" car user... That makes some sense at least.

Who really cares about people dying to car accidents? If you want to argue their mpg is bad, then ok I could go with that. Though the newer more economical SUVs get nearly 30 mpg, which is as good as many cars.

But the fact they kill slightly more people...meh, who cares?

People who want big cars will buy big cars. If people can't buy SUVs they'll buy full size sedans or pickups or Hummers or city transit buses or the Popemobile. Stupid people will always be stupid, and you can't change that with legislation.

It works, bitches.

That's because most newer SUVs are really just boxy sedans with lifted suspensions. If you're lucky, maybe 4WD. Still a wimpy frame, undersized motor, and not even an LSD usually (the differential type, not the drug).

True, but that's what most people need. Who the hell takes an SUV offroading anyways. Hell for that matter what redneck wastes his time going offroading? Fuck those guys.

So again, whats the beef here? I never understood the liberal hate of SUVs....
The new SUVs are more economical than trucks and mini-vans. The fact they kill slightly more people is little more than a joke. What are we talking about here, an extra dozen people a year?
We simply don't ban things for being slightly more dangerous.

RE: SUV Rights Acknowledgement
The attitude many people have, that authoritarian urge to use legislation to ban things they don't like, worries me. The fact that more people have voted for a ban than people have voted for no ban is troubling.
