Sabbath rules kill 7 children?
You all most likely read the terrible news of the 7 children killed in the house fire in Brooklyn NY. The news said it was possibly caused by a hot plate used to not violate Sabbath rules which caused the fire. If they didn't have to observe this bronze age crap their children would probably still be alive. Religion kills people, and not just in wars.

How terrible and very, very sad.

Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors.... on Donald J. Trump:

He is deformed, crooked, old, and sere,
Ill-fac’d, worse bodied, shapeless every where;
Vicious, ungentle, foolish, blunt, unkind,
Stigmatical in making, worse in mind.

It was a tragic accident. I can't blame religion on that.

But as if to knock me down, reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch, cut me into little pieces

True. Hotplates burn buildings down all the time.

The REASON the hotplate was on, was that the parents are fundie Jews and believe their god cares about whether they switch on an electric circuit on the Sabbath. So they turned it on, and left it on, ON PURPOSE. They should be charged with something. .... reckless endangerment.

Fire departments have handed out information on the dangers of using hotplates on the Sabbath to Orthodox Jewish neighborhoods. This isn't the first time this has happened. They leave them on for 25 hours. If this whole idiotic, bronze age sabbath crap weren't observed in the first place those seven children would be alive.

My great aunt had one -- it wasn't a good idea. Started a fire in her nursing home.

Curling irons are bad too. Sad

It's not the only thing like this...

Morons who withhold vaccinations, refuse blood transfusions or other surgeries - and "Pray" instead for their kids to miraculously heal from such things as leukemia..

Troglodytes.

When are they going to start charging these fucktards with child endangerment?

Nooooo... Gotta "respect their religious beliefs" --- regardless of how blisteringly ignorant they are....

.......................................

The difference between prayer and masturbation - is when a guy is through masturbating - he has something to show for his efforts.

I'd give this whole issue 50/50. This particular incident was religiously motivated , however, college students and poor people burn down their domicile frequently. 25 hours is a little excessive.

"Orthodox Jews closely adhere to strict rules that define rest and work on the Sabbath, which lasts from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. Prohibitions include turning on and off electric appliances."

25 freaking hours. The stupid burns.
