Oh deer. Ohmy

Oh and hello.

That kind of threw me too...I understood that, outside of a shotgun at your club, guns were totally verboten.

Nah!

There's just no need to over-legislate when there isn't much of a problem.

Hi ob,

With respect, I think you are making a different point to mine. My comment is that it can be done, and yours is whether it should be done. My point is to emphasize the kinetic energy of a powerful crossbow, I think yours is about hunting etiquette, which of course I agree with.

There is no doubt that a TAC 15 can take a deer at 100yds.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gly3bafUhcU

The 'shooter' hits a bullseye at 100 yds with the TAC 15. He comments that, if it had been a deer, it would be his.

You make a relevant point about the quarry hearing a loosing bolt, but IMHO a shot taken 100 yds away, upwind, is unlikely to be heard. I do agree that a deer could move at any moment, so the etiquette point you make is a good one, but my point that a TAC 15 level of bow can kill a deer at 100yds is correct.
