Schrödinger's cat caught on camera

Yes, I know, Daily Mail therefore likely to be dodgy journalism.

Quote:A ghostly portrait of Schrödinger's cat has revealed one of physics' most bizarre theories: quantum entanglement.

Incredibly, the image was created using light that never interacted with the stencil, while the photons that hit the stencil were not seen by the camera

Where's a fizzy-cyst when you need one?

cjlr... help!

In unrelated news, I spotted something on the link's links that I never knew. Jon Voight is Angelina Jolie's father.

Who knew?

One of these two discoveries will change the world!

I knew. She obviously takes after her mother. Thumbsup

What were we talking about again? Something about a German cat? Tongue

"I feel as though the camera is almost a kind of voyeur in Mr. Beans life, and you just watch this bizarre man going about his life in the way that he wants to."

RE: Schrödinger's cat caught on camera
Actual article here
(the Daily Mail? really?)

It's a fairly straightforward application - similar thought experiments have existed for decades, but this is a great real-world demonstration. Just a matter of interference - if the interacting photons interfere with the non-interacting photons, enough information is preserved in the non-interacting photons to reconstruct some data for the interacting photons.

... this is my signature!

Oh yeah. I knew that.

Dunno. I just hadn't heard from you for a while.

Wasn't sure if you were dead or ... Consider

Fair enough.

My last post before this one, this morning goes all the way back... to yesterday afternoon.

I work with one of the top Ghost Imaging researchers in the world. Told him about the Schrödinger's cat ghost image. He found it clever. "Half cat, half ghost."

#sigh

RE: Schrödinger's cat caught on camera
If I understand this correctly, it's a bit like a guy named Schroedinger taking his cat with him to Times Square on New Year's Eve, and the cat farts, then the shape of the cat's ass would be reproduced at the edge of the crowd by people who didn't actually breathe any of the "interfered" air but were jostled by people who did. What science discovers very much depends on what you feed your cat. And on no one attempting to light a cigarette at a critical moment.
