Side dish ideas to go with ham
I am thinking about getting a small ham for Christmas. There will only be four of us here so I don't need a ton of food. It's a given that I will be making baked mac and cheese but I need some ideas for a simple dishes.

Green bean casserole is out. I am not a creative or inspired cook so I need something simple. Maybe a potato dish of some sort and a vegetable dish to add color to the meal.

Ideas?

Roasted root veggies, like carrots and potatoes and beets and parsnips. Colorful, super simple, and punny. Pig, root, get it, har har?

As much as I like bacon, it isn't a vegetable. Weeping

Though it should be.

My mom makes the best cheesy hash brown potato casserole that is perfect with ham. I should have the recipe somewhere if you want it.

But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Scrunchy green beans

Put green beans in a pan. Put large amount of butter in pan. Cook on medium high, covered, stirring occasionally until the green beans look scrunchy. It takes a little while as you are basically over cooking the fuck out of them.

They are buttery delicious.

For cryin' out loud. There is only one side dish to go with a ham.

Good jokes.

Green eggs?

Actually, my parents always made cabbage with our ham. Used to hate it but I like it now.

My favorite though, is the creamed corn recipe that The Cheesecake Factory has. My wife makes it and it's rockin'

RE: Side dish ideas to go with ham
I spotted a ham in the garage refrigerator. Dodgy I wonder what I'm eating on Sunday, because it ain't gonna be any of that ham. No offense, but I can only eat bacon, occasionally, and no other pig meat. This horrible aversion to all things pig happened after I started a diet with less saturated fat and lost my taste for it, about 10 years ago. And I STILL have high cholesterol that has to be controlled with pills. I used to LOVE baby back ribs. Sadcryface
